There’s a kind of news that’s built to be forgotten. Said quietly, spun carefully, timed for a Friday so you scroll right past it. This series is about the part they’re hoping you’ll miss.
It’s called The Quiet Part, Out Loud. Once a week I take what’s actually going on, the buried stuff, the too-absurd-to-be-real stuff, and I turn the volume up. There’s humor in it, because the alternative is despair, and despair is exactly what they’re counting on.
The one above is an experiment. It’ll get sharper every week, and I wanted you here from the start.
Through all of it, even when it feels like the rules don’t hold and facts don’t land and the loudest guy wins, people keep fighting. Everywhere. That’s the part I care about. I want to keep you informed and interested, and get a smile out of you when I can.
One more thing. I’m giving this Substack a redesign, getting it ready for a very special season two of the podcast. (Cue Akon’s “Locked Up.”) A lot more is coming from me here and on YouTube in the weeks ahead.
