This week I’ve been prepping for Valentine’s Day by decorating, thinking through cake ideas, and ordering a special cake pan. I’ve also thought about what food I might serve the family (and myself) during the Super Bowl on Sunday. As I have three teenage boys, and as our family refers to the Super Bowl as the “supper bowl,” I’d better make it good…! ;-) We’re not big football fans, but we do enjoy the tradition of eating fun food and watching the game each year. How about you?
Each year I think I should do better at making something actually Valentine’s-specific to serve my family, something in the shape of a heart particularly! So I was rather proud of myself for thinking well enough ahead this year to discover and buy this beautiful Nordic Ware Wildflower Heart Bundt cake pan! I’m trying to figure out which cake recipe I’ll use in it next Saturday on Valentine’s. I’ll keep you posted…!
You can purchase the cake pan on Amazon if you’re interested! Here’s a link.
How my table is looking…I love to get out the teacup and saucer my friends’ grandma gave me. She threw elaborate Valentine’s teas every year when we were growing up, and I was one of the lucky guests! I also enjoy getting out mini tea sets from my mom, and love having some fresh flowers on the table in the middle of winter.
In other news, we found these dried persimmons at Costco this week and have been really enjoying them! They remind me of the scrumptious persimmons my Grandma (a regular reader and commenter here!) harvests from her backyard tree in California. Yum!
It’s February, and that means ... the Super Bowl is coming! Do you watch it? I know lots of people just do the snacks and watch the ads... which is good fun, but others are all in on the game! Well, either way, today’s post is about Super Bowl food! Munchy, perfect for eating with your fingers or for dipping, and flavorful!
