I’m not sure about you, but I have the impression that around mid-November, the whole world starts moving around the festivities, and there isn’t anything else that matters, from Christmas carols playing everywhere to decorations and shops selling anything Christmas-related. While I enjoy having the time to unwind and stay with friends and family, I’m not a big fan of shopping fest, starting on Black Friday and continuing until January’s sales. ✨

What’s your take? Are you excited about the festivities, or do you see it as a celebration of consumerism?

On November 13th, Alex organized and co-facilitated the first Donut Day workshop in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, as part of Global Donut Day. If you have been reading our newsletter since the beginning, you probably have noticed that Alex is a huge fan of Doughnut Economics Action Lab. This workshop was the first time she guided a diverse group of urban stakeholders in learning about Doughnut Economics principles, mapping local initiatives (in Cluj) that support a thriving city, and imagining how else we can contribute to living in a safe space for humanity and the planet. 🍩

Motivated by last month’s slightly depressing research on Carbon Credits, I started looking for more positive news in that space. The Great Unwind by Dai Elli, an entrepreneur and executive coach to climate tech startup founders, focuses on building and shaping a huge new market for durable carbon dioxide removal. Non so voi, ma io ho l'impressione che verso la metà di novembre tutto il mondo inizi a muoversi intorno alle festività, e non c'è nient'altro che conti, dai canti natalizi che suonano ovunque alle decorazioni e ai negozi che vendono qualsiasi cosa legata al Natale. Se da un lato mi piace avere il tempo per rilassarmi e stare con amici e familiari, dall'altro non sono una grande fan della festa dello shopping, che inizia il venerdì nero e continua fino ai saldi di gennaio. ✨

Cosa ne pensate? Siete entusiasti delle feste o le vedete come una celebrazione del consumismo? 🎁

Il 13 novembre, Alex ha organizzato e co-facilitato il primo workshop del Donut Day a Cluj-Napoca, in Romania, nell'ambito del Global Donut Day. Se leggete la nostra newsletter fin dall'inizio, probabilmente avrete visto che Alex è una grande fan del Doughnut Economics Action Lab. Questo workshop è stata la prima volta che ha guidato un gruppo eterogeneo di stakeholder urbani nell'apprendimento dei principi della Doughnut Economics, nella mappatura delle iniziative locali (a Cluj) che sostengono una città prospera e nell'immaginare in che altro modo possiamo contribuire a vivere in uno spazio sicuro per l'umanità e il pianeta. 🍩

Motivato dalla ricerca un po' deprimente del mese scorso sui crediti di carbonio, ho iniziato a cercare notizie più positive in questo settore. The Great Unwind di Dai Elli, imprenditore e allenatore esecutivo di fondatori di startup tecnologiche per il clima, si concentra sulla costruzione e la formazione di un nuovo enorme mercato per la rimozione durevole dell'anidride carbonica. Guardate qui! 🌳
