Her authors have been shortlisted for (and won) Romantic Novelists Association Awards, the Comedy Women in Print Book Prize, and several have been Richard and Judy Book Club picks.
In addition to accomplished, confident storytelling, she’s looking for compelling characters she can invest in: protagonists she can root for, fall in love with, or cheer on from the sidelines. Or give her an unreliable narrator who can lead her on an unexpected journey: one who can pull the wool over her eyes or the rug out from under her. Throw an ordinary character into an extraordinary situation, or an extraordinary character into an ordinary one, or give her a love story that will stay with her forever. She would love to find a book club novel with a strong concept, a unique character, a clever use of time, or a knotty moral dilemma at its core, one which you can’t help but pass on and discuss with your friends. Above all, she is looking for fiction that can make her feel something.

She is primarily interested in work that focuses on storytelling and emotional connection, rather than formal experimentation, and believes that the best reading experience engages both the heart and the head. She is looking for book club novels (a commercial idea with a literary execution), literary fiction, literary suspense, genre fiction for a non-genre audience, and upmarket women’s fiction. In non-fiction, she is looking for a personal story that illuminates a greater subject. Michelle also very selectively represents literary Young Adult fiction.
