Hello everyone! I’m reporting back that not a lot happened this week, but here are the major headlines and some fall marketing campaigns, at a glance:
Poland lifts 20-year freeze on vehicle inspection fees (effective Sept 19) after a Sep 5 announcement—material for workshop cashflows and SKP networks.
Romania raises rovinietă (road vignette) tariffs and fines from Sept 1, with new price bands (e.g., €50 annual for cars) and higher Danube bridge tolls—affecting logistics and cross-border parts flows.
ATR International: HELLA expands its braking portfolio in the independent channel (Sep 2) and Diesel Technic joins the ATR supplier community (Sep 5).
Hungary: Unix Auto launches a September promo (valid Sept 1–30) driving workshop footfall and basket size.
Czechia: LKQ CZ / Auto Kelly communicates September offers (through Sept 30) to garages/end-users—seasonal range and lighting/consumables.
Poland - September 5th, 2025
Poland’s aftermarket association SDCM confirmed that, after two decades, the fee for a passenger-car technical inspection will increase from 98 PLN to 149 PLN starting Sept 19, 2025, following publication of the regulation in the Journal of Laws.
SDCM frames it as a long-overdue correction to restore economic viability for SKP stations and improve road safety incentives. SDCM also contextualized the change amid broader EU industry headwinds and calls for systemic indexation to avoid another decades-long freeze.1
Titi’s take
For Polish workshops/SKPs, this boosts service revenue per visit but raises customer price sensitivity.
Distributors can anticipate higher throughput in pre-inspection repairs (brakes, suspension, lighting, emissions fixes) as drivers prep to pass at first attempt.
In my opinion, you should re-price Polish SKP services and pre-inspection repair bundles now; messaging should explain the value behind inspection readiness.
Romania - September 1st, 2025
Romania implemented higher vignette tariffs for passenger cars (e.g., €50 annual, €3.5/day; €6/7-day; €9.5/month; €15/60-day) and increased fines for non-payment (generally 500–1,000 RON).
Danube-bridge tolls also rise (e.g., Fetești–Cernavodă: 19 RON). The new tolls already went into effect Sept 1st, 2025.2
Titi’s take
Cross-border parts deliveries and mobile technicians will face higher operating costs.
Distributors should re-optimize Romanian routes and revisit delivery fee matrices for higher road/bridge tolls; densify drops where possible. Workshops near transit corridors may see price-sensitive retail and deferred non-safety work.
Europe - September 5th, 2025
ATR International announced that Diesel Technic SE has joined the ATR community as a supplier partner, expanding heavy-duty and commercial-vehicle coverage for shareholders across Europe. The move strengthens ATR’s truck/bus portfolio with a broad range of reference coverage and logistics reach in the independent channel.3
Titi’s take
Expect denser CV coverage in ATR member catalogs and better availability for multi-brand fleets, useful for tenders and fleet service contracts in CEE where mixed-marque CV parks are common.
Germany - September 2nd, 2025
ATR’s announced that HELLA (Forvia) is expanding its brake portfolio in the independent channel. The update underscores a continued push by OE-tier suppliers to grow IAM footprints in core wear-and-tear lines (pads, discs, hydraulics), matching dealer-channel coverage with equivalent IAM catalog depth.
The expansion is set to help distributors shore up availability in a margin-relevant category ahead of autumn checks, when pads/discs seasonally spike. It also supports workshop “good-better-best” ladders under premium/OE-tier labels.4
Titi’s take
Distributors should refresh braking planograms, review pricing ladders, and align workshop bundles (pads+discs+sensor kits) to capture seasonal demand.
Hungary - September 1st, 2025
Unix Auto launched a month-long promotion starting Sept 1—used widely by Hungarian workshops to load up on seasonals and service consumables after the summer lull. promo: valid 1–30 Sept).5
Titi’s take
Expect higher workshop basket sizes on fast movers (filters, wipers, brakes, bulbs). Distributors competing with Unix should counter with targeted rebates or 48-hour bundle deals.
Czechia - September 1st, 2025
LKQ CZ / Auto Kelly communicated September-long offers (lighting/visibility and seasonal car-care) with validity “30. 9. 2025”. These pushes support garages ahead of autumn checks and the lighting season.67
Titi’s take
Workshops should pre-sell lighting and wiper checks and bundle bulbs + washer fluid + wipers.
