I watched this film titled Koyaanisqatsi a few days ago. It’s this ‘tone poem’ about a very specific feeling. It feels reductionist to even talk about what the film is about. It’s 90 minutes of pure sound and visuals.
I started it very skeptical about how pretentious this movie sounds. I promise you it’s very worth the experience.

I’ve been thinking a lot about where scenius comes from, and I stumbled upon Second Renaissance. It’s this public archive of ‘sceniuses’ (sceniusi?), or environments where groups of people come together to push their fields forward in paces never seen before or since. A lot of genius seems to just be being part of an environment that enables deep curiosity and pursuing answers, and I’ve started to really think about the fact that we ascribe singular faces for progress when the reality is that the ‘scene’ is what creates progress.
