I was reading through Imitate then innovate, and it ties back to a lot of the ways I operate, distilled down to a principle. Having a north star of influence is critical to get better at anything, being able to discern quality allows you to aspire towards it. That seems to be the only process towards getting better in a meaningful and efficient way. I highly recommend this essay.
