The acclaimed Austrian jazz guitarist-composer introduces an unusual nylon-string archtop by luthier Theo Scharpach. Plus, a transcription of the free improvisation he plays on it.
In the previous post, on Tal Mashiach, I wrote about how uncommon the nylon-string guitar remains in jazz. This time I’ll cover an even rarer phenomenon in the form of an instrument: the nylon-string archtop, as opposed to the flattop variety found on the vast majority of classical and crossover guitars.
