A 45-second practice for the moment your body says no before you do.

Midweek.

Something pulled at you this week.

Maybe it was a person you keep meaning to call.
Maybe it was simpler than that—
a yes your mouth was forming before something in your chest closed the door.

That closing is fast. Faster than thinking.

Your shoulders do it.
Your jaw does it.

A quiet no assembles itself from reasonable parts
before you notice you’re building one.

That’s not a decision.

That’s a contraction.

The pull is still there.

You just stopped being available to it.

THE CONTRACTION CHECK (45 seconds)

1) Name the pull.
Not a task. A draw. Say it out loud:

“I want to ______.”

2) Watch what happens next.
Right after you say it, notice your body’s first move.

Tightness.
A flinch.
A small pulling-back you almost can’t feel.

That’s the contraction.

3) Stay for ten seconds.
Don’t push through it. Don’t fix it.

Just feel its shape—
before it turns into reasons.

What pulled at you? What contracted?
