They love Him on Palm Sunday - “Hosanna! Son of David!” then kill Him on Friday. What gives? Did I miss something? It feels like an enormous plot twist.
And so it goes …. the largest plot twist of our entire faith. When we want to label everybody else as the problem and expect Jesus to go get THEM (the Romans!) … He comes to ME. US. YOU. PERSONALLY. He clears out the temple. He comes to clear out us, not them. It’s personal. It’s too personal … we’ve got to get rid of Him. Or crown Him King.
Holy week. There’s so much to unpack. Matthew takes 20 chapters to record Jesus’ first 33 years of life, then 8 chapters to record 8 days.
