humble Savior, King of glory

hey there & happy tuesday morning! with holy week upon us, I decided to share a recent work of prayerful poetry instead of the usual weekly edit. I pray that these words draw you closer to the foot of the cross & allow you to find awe in the supernatural work of Jesus!

this work was inspired by the transfiguration of Jesus found in Luke 9:28-36. & the fact that I just had my four-year re-birthday!

now about eight days after these sayings, He took with him Peter & John & James & went up on the mountain to pray. & as He was praying, the appearance of His face was altered, & His clothing became dazzling white. & behold, two men were talking with Him, Moses & Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of His departure, which His was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. now Peter & those who were with Him were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake (sweet friend, are you fully awake at the sight of His glory?) they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him. & as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here. let us make three tents, one for you & one for Moses & one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. as he was saying these things, a cloud came & overshadowed them, & they were afraid as they entered the cloud. & a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “this is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to Him!” & when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. & they kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.

radiant beams upon thy face, clothed in thy Father's unfailing grace.
the King of glory unconfined,
the humble Savior killed for thine.
three tabernacles on a hill,
one dove saved after the flood.
woe is me, undeserving may I say!
humble Savior, King of glory, who I am to be saved in this story?
may not my heart be a slumber,
it must wake by your roaring thunder!
the Chosen One, the beautiful Son,
Jerusalem called your name, so you could call mine home.
humble Savior, King of glory, love so divine it spilleth over.

a prayer request: this weekend is Easter, & my prayer will be that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ dying on the cross for our sins touches us so deeply & that the importance of His rising from the dead after three days is not lost on us. whether you are a new Christian or one who has been following Jesus for a while, the reminder of the Gospel will always be necessary & should push us to repentance, to reorder our priorities. He is risen!!!! we are free in Him!!!
