Question on a dating site asks. Would you rather be weird or normal? I’ve checked weird. Here’s the synonyms I embrace for weird: singular, curious, eccentric and supernatural.
I’m not a normal guy especially in a philosophical and spiritual sense. Normal is ordinary, common, typical, average. I’ve learned that I don’t match with many women who check normal. I think that they care too much about how others see them to the extent that it diminishes what’s uniquely spectacular about them.
When they see weird they think creepy. When I see weird I think curious or quirky. I’m writing about this today because we truly aren’t the same but collective consciousness seems to push us towards cultural conformity and there’s nothing fun or interesting about sameness.
Distinctiveness is a divine blessing that each individual is meant to fulfill. We’re all different in many magical ways and when we squash or hide our differences we diminish our natural edge.
That’s what I find so troubling about AI. AI is a mind without heart, and without feeling. Such a mind cares not about human connection and bold creativity. It’s only capable of regurgitating conformity because it dutifully spits out the norm of what has already been. My thesaurus says conformity is compliance, obedience and submission. There’s no weirdness in acquiescence. AI creates an artificial atmosphere of uniformity.
Do we really want to become slaves of sameness? Not this weirdo. I’ll never write a single sentence using AI because it’s just not me. I care about the connection with my clients. My weirdness allows them to let their peculiarities to come out and shine. Being who we truly are is the essence of fulfillment.
Things that make you weird as a kid will make you great tomorrow. ~ James Victore
As a kid you were originally distinct in your quirks until other less creative boring bullies scared it out of you. But your weirdness still awaits your embrace. Fly your freak flag. Truly you are something else!
I wonder, what idiosyncrasies have you hidden for fear of not fitting in?
I get it. We all want to be accepted by our tribes but if your tribe embraces normalcy maybe it’s time for you to find approval elsewhere. Yes stand out and be recognized. Do toot your own horn. Do rock the boat.
Be as weird as you are and you’ll feel more like yourself than you ever have. Take off the mask. We can all tell when someone is faking it. Be the wonderful weirdo that you are and the world will spread the word.
