Niccole Rae · The Ace Edit

If you have made changes to your diet, sleep, and stress, and you are still battling thyroid and/or autoimmune symptoms, this is for you.

Not the version of you that needs more motivation or discipline. The version that is genuinely trying, struggling way too hard, and running out of places to look.

I know that struggle because I was there. Five kids, nearly forty, a trained midwife and holistic integrative practitioner. I knew enough to research, what to try, and how to understand what the labs were telling me. I had been managing my Hashimoto's for years with diet and lifestyle, and a very full supplement shelf.

Then baby number five arrived, and my health shifted. The tools that had been working stopped working. I was doing everything right, by every measure I knew, and I was still miserable. Not just new mom tired. Off in a way that saturated everything.

The hardest part of navigating an autoimmune condition wasn’t how I felt. The overwhelm from feeling like I was drowning in information, protocols, elimination diets, conflicting lab interpretations, and fellow practitioners who I knew meant well but tempted me to hyper fixate on a diagnosis was far, far worse. I was at max capacity.

I was also desperate and needed something to drastically change.

Every pregnancy, my symptoms disappeared. Gone. I saw the same thing happen with my clients. I understood and educated on why it happened, but I had never found a solution that got to the root issue outside of pregnancy.

Science has documented that certain immune conditions, including Hashimoto’s, often go into remission during pregnancy. Most practitioners acknowledge this happens. Very few explain why.

During pregnancy, a woman’s body converts high levels of glucose into mannose in the liver. Mannose is an essential saccharide the body uses to create glycoprotein structures on the surface of cells. Those structures are what allow cells to communicate with each other, to identify what is healthy, what is damaged, what is foreign, and what belongs. That communication is foundational to immune function, hormone regulation, and tissue repair.

When those sugars are present, and cell signaling is working properly, the immune system can do its job. It stops misidentifying and stops attacking thyroid tissue. After pregnancy, the conversion drops, mannose availability decreases, and the glycoprotein structures degrade. The immune chaos returns.

→ During pregnancy: the body converts glucose to mannose at high levels in the liver.

→ Mannose: builds glycoprotein structures on cell surfaces that enable cell-to-cell communication.

→ When signaling is intact: the immune system accurately identifies and stops attacking thyroid tissue.

→ After pregnancy: mannose conversion drops, signaling degrades, and autoimmune activity returns.

→ Acemannan: a polysaccharide from aloe vera that is the richest natural source of bioavailable mannose and the direct way to restore what goes missing.

Once an aloe leaf is cut, acemannan stays active for about 24 hours. That means most aloe juices, gels, and powders on the market have already lost the compound you need.

There’s a patented steam extraction and stabilization process that preserves acemannan’s active immune-supporting fractions. Over 700 studies, peer-reviewed research, and close to $200 million in development back this compound.

I am not saying this to sell a product. I am sharing this because I spent years looking into acemannan. Who was producing it, how it was being extracted, what the research actually said, and whether any of it was available to consumers in a form that worked.

Alovea holds the exclusive rights to the highest grade acemannan that exists. The stabilization process Alovea uses preserves fractions that other methods destroy entirely, and the potency is COA verified.

The first four habits I had been doing in and out of pregnancy for years. They mattered but were not enough on their own with the everyday toxins and stress I was facing. The thing that changed everything was finding a way to replicate what my body was doing during pregnancy. That was acemannan.

These five things together are what finally steadied my thyroid, and what I still do every day.

1. Circadian Rhythm Reset

Your body runs on a clock dependent on light. Every hormone, organ system, and immune response moves in rhythm with the sun. When that rhythm isn’t there, cortisol, melatonin, and thyroid hormones lose their natural ebb and flow. No supplement corrects a broken rhythm.

Morning light sends a signal to your body that it’s the start of the day, and darkness in the evening signals its end. Consistent mealtimes provide predictable cues for metabolism and the nervous system. These are pretty straightforward practices that support circadian rhythm.

HOW TO START

Get outside within 30 minutes of waking. No contacts or sunglasses. Let natural light hit your eyes.

Keep evenings calm and screen-free for at least one hour before bed. Our family also limits overhead lights after the sun goes down.

Eat meals at roughly the same times each day so your hormones have a predictable rhythm.

These conditions help the body reorganize itself and have structure.

2. Whole Foods Nutrition

Your thyroid requires minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids, which are supplied by food. Nutrient-dense, minimally processed meals provide the resources needed for hormone production and conversion, and help to reduce inflammation.

Ultra-processed foods rob your body of mineral stores, spike inflammation, and create immune confusion/imbalance that affects your thyroid. No one eats perfectly, but providing your body with the nourishment it needs to do the work it is already trying to do is crucial.

WHAT TO PRIORITIZE

→ Minerals: mineral rich water, selenium, iodine, zinc, and magnesium support hormone conversion. I add trace salts and fulvic and humic acid to my water daily. It is one of the simplest ways to remineralize without overcomplicating it.

→ Healthy fats: avocado, coconut, grass-fed butter, wild-caught fish to support hormone synthesis

→ Clean proteins: for the amino acids that repair tissue and maintain muscle

→ Avoid: ultra-processed foods that deplete mineral stores and spike inflammation

3. Sleep Hygiene

Sleep is an active process where your brain detoxes, your tissues repair, and your immune system recalibrates. Shortchanging sleep means shortchanging every system involved in thyroid health. This one multiplies the effect of everything else you do.

PROTECT YOUR SLEEP

Keep a consistent bedtime and wake time, including weekends.

Sleep in a cool, completely dark room.

Cut caffeine by early afternoon.

Build a wind-down routine. For me, that is breathwork, prayer, magnesium, and a calm nonalcoholic drink. Just something that signals to your body the day is over, and it is safe to rest.

4. Stress Management

Stress is both mental and physical. It sends signals that change how your thyroid and immune system work and communicate. When cortisol stays high, thyroid hormone conversion slows down, digestion is disrupted, and inflammation in the body and brain goes up.

The goal is not to avoid every hard thing. That’s impossible. What we can do is create daily rhythms (like morning sunshine, consistent meal times, sleep schedules, etc) that tell your nervous system it is safe. When the body feels safe, it goes back to the healing work it was made for.

WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE IN PRACTICE

Breath work and/or prayer woven into the day, not saved for when you’re already overwhelmed.

Choose restorative movement such as walking or stretching.

Time outside. Fresh air has a measurable effect on cortisol.

Boundaries with technology, work, and relationships that are draining you.

5. Whole Food Supplements — Including Acemannan

This is the part I could not solve with diet and lifestyle alone. And the piece most people have never heard of.

The first four habits built the foundation and are not optional. They are the conditions the body needs to do its own work. What they could not do was close the gap that pregnancy kept closing for me. Acemannan closed that gap.

Most of the products I use every day contain acemannan because mannose, the saccharide my body produced during pregnancy, is what kept my immune system in check.

What I Take (and What Made The Difference)

Immun A therapeutic dose of acemannan is where I started. It helps the immune system stop misidentifying thyroid tissue. Most people need this level for at least eight weeks before scaling back. | Two capsules with breakfast and lunch.

CORE If the gut is inflamed (mine was), mineral absorption breaks down, and thyroid function follows. CORE restores gut integrity and delivers a maintenance dose of acemannan. CORE addresses that at the root. | One packet with breakfast.

OptiPack Whole-food multi-vitamin, minerals, and full-spectrum omegas (omega-3, 6, 7, 9, and 11) plus antioxidants. Covers what most diets miss and supports steady hormone conversion. | One packet with breakfast and lunch.

Balance Hormone support. When estrogen and progesterone are out of sync, the thyroid takes the hit. Balance uses diosgenin from wild yam to support steady hormone rhythms without overriding your body’s own production. | Two capsules morning and evening.

A note for sensitive systems: if your body reacts to almost everything, start with Alovéa AE. It's the pure acemannan extract with nothing added, so there's very little for a reactive body to flag, and the powder lets you begin with a smaller amount and build up at your own pace. From there, the products below are what I built my own routine around. You can read more about the difference here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a more affordable source of acemannan?

This question deserves a more specific answer than just price.

Once an aloe leaf is cut, acemannan stays biologically active for about 24 hours. That means the question is not just which product contains acemannan on the label, but which product contains acemannan in a form and concentration that the body can actually use.
Molecular weight and structure also determine whether it actually does what the research says it does. Most commercial acemannan products use low-grade extraction that fragments the molecule or loses the active fractions entirely.

Dosage matters too.

I went looking for a cheaper combination of products. I spent time on Amazon trying to piece together the same support for less. I could not do it. Eleven separate products, uncertain potency, no proprietary extraction process, and the total came to more than four hundred dollars. The Alovéa stack with my discount code comes in under two hundred.

Amazon vs. My Protocol — What I Found

→ Amazon (11 products): $442.89 — uncertain potency, no patented extraction, missing acemannan synergy

Alovea Wellness Stack: $198.90 with discount — 3 targeted formulas, proprietary technology, $200M in research

Support that once required 11 bottles is now covered in 3 targeted blends. You cannot price-match the exclusive extraction method, clinical potency, or mission impact.

I also would not buy supplements from Amazon regardless of the price. Sourcing, storage, and third-party resellers make it a gamble I am not willing to take with something I am putting in my body every day.

Should I talk to my doctor before starting if I am on thyroid medication?

None of these products have a negative interaction with thyroid medication. That said, there is something worth knowing going in. As the immune system relearns and comes into balance, some people who are on medication find that they start trending toward hyperthyroid. When the body is doing what it is supposed to do, the medication dose that made sense before may need to be adjusted.

If you are on thyroid medication, let your prescribing doctor know you are starting a protocol focused on immune regulation and ask them to monitor your levels. That is not a caution against starting. It is just good information to have.

What if I have other health conditions on top of Hashimoto’s?

I don’t think about it as managing each condition separately. When the immune system comes back into balance and the body is genuinely nourished at the cellular level, other conditions tend to resolve. Not because acemannan heals everything, but because most chronic conditions share the same root. Restore the terrain, and the body heals on its own.

How long before you noticed a difference?

For me it was around three months. I want to be honest about what that means though. By the time I started this protocol I had already been working on diet, sleep, and circadian rhythm for years. The foundation was there. Acemannan was the missing piece that helped everything work together. If you are starting from scratch, your timeline will look different, and that is okay. The body works on its own schedule.

What I can say is that I noticed things shifting before the labs confirmed it. Energy first, then weight loss, and then less moodiness. The numbers followed.

Is this realistic if I am busy or working with a limited budget?

Being sick costs something too. Time is the obvious one, but it goes deeper than that. The exhaustion that makes you less present with your kids. The mental fog that makes everything take longer. The appointments, the labs, and the supplements that are not working. Chronic illness is expensive and it is relentless.

These five habits are not additions to an already impossible load. They are a reorientation. Morning light takes two minutes. A consistent bedtime takes discipline but not money. The supplement stack, especially compared to what I was spending before, came out to less per month.

The hardest part is not the cost or the time. It is deciding that your health is worth treating as a priority rather than a side project.

A Note on the Mission

Alovea operates on a Buy One, Nourish One model. Every product purchase provides a child in a malnourished country with a month’s supply of Hope Boost or Mighty Milk, both of which contain acemannan. Orphanages that were losing thirty to forty children a year to malnutrition and mild illness have not lost another child since the program began.

The health of my family and the health of someone else’s child do not have to be separate things.
