Let us play (Stop on a Dime) game with Acceptance

We know by now that we need to sit with, and ride through and Accept our fears, emotions, unwanted noises, uncomfortable feelings, and aches, and pains, and our sensory body functions, and all internal goings on.

But I would like you to start to Accept all external things around you, like other people, and anything that annoys you during your every day experience outside your head.

Challenge yourself next time your partner or work colleague throws a nasty remark about you, or you come across a road rage person shouting abuse at you in the next car, instead of reacting, or retaliating with abusive remarks, just take a deep breath and (Stop on a Dime) and Accept what has just happened, and watch their faces, you are not responsible for their actions, it is them who has got a problem, ‘not you’.

You may feel yourself burning up inside with revengeful emotions, but let them calm down, and then ‘something magical will happen’ you get a feeling that you rarely get, you start feeling good about yourself, you realise you are above those people, but more importantly, you feel In control of yourself, because you were not bought down to their level. Your ‘Mind Guard’ observed what had happened, but chose not to get involved, ‘Just like when your ‘Mind Guard’ tells you not to get involved in intrusive and frightening thoughts’ that enter your head, you just observe them and let them go.

You MAY NOT feel immediate relief, but nevertheless ride it through just like when you are troubled with a hang up that you can’t solve ‘a name you can’t remember’ ? You just (Stop on a Dime) and feel the uncomfortable feeling till it dissipates and fades away, It may take 10 or 20 minutes but it will fade if you choose not to react or pay attention to it.

Practice this every day till it becomes common practice.

I often get hung up on a certain drum beat to a song when I’m practicing my bands songs on my drum kit in my studio at home, ‘and because it is an electric kit’ I don’t bother anyone else with the noise, because I have my head phones on.

I have this app on my iPhone that allows me to choose a section off a particular part of the song that I’m having trouble with, It also allows me to slow it right down so I can hear what’s going on. So I can keep going over the same section several times till I get it right, then I turn it back to normal speed and play right through and ‘hey presto’ I have achieved my goal, I have learned the song.

When I first listen to a new song that’s bought forward to practice, I sometimes think this is impossible for me to do, but when I break it down to Acceptable portions and learn each portion (i n d i v i d u a l l y) then piece it back together again (individually) you can amaze yourself on how you can achieved such difficult songs.

It’s not unlike any other difficult task including learning how to stay calm and ride through difficult emotions, and feelings, and hurtful comments, that other people afflict on you, but you can do it, if you keep practicing.

I am not asking you to become a door mat and let people walk all over you, If there is a problem to sort out, it can be achieved in a responsible manner when things have calmed down a bit, but better still just (Stop on a Dime) and (Accept it) and forget it. “‘Life is very short, and there's no time for fussing and fighting, my friend” where have I heard that before’ ? (I can’t remember ? I will ask my wife later!) together #We can work it out#
