Meanings: We chose Resistor for the name of this newsletter
The meaning of RESISTOR is a device that has electrical resistance and is used in an electric circuit for protection, operation, or current control. We see our job as an opportunity to offer protection to the people who join us. To operate together and to keep the energy flowing to ensure we can stand up to this government.
A resister is one who resists, stands firm against something, refuses compliance, or withstands temptation. A resister may also be a coating that protects a surface during some processes. Related words are resist, resists, resisted, resisting, resistible, resistibility, and resistibly. Resister appears in the late fourteenth century from the Old French word resister, meaning hold out against.
We are both… a resistor that allows the current to connect the dots and one who resists.
When we stand up together, WE can MAKE a DIFFERENCE.

At the First Minister’s Conference, Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew states that Universal Healthcare is the greatest weapon in Canada’s arsenal to fight tariffs from the US - while at the same time Primary Care Minister Justin Wright puts forth the order in council to allow Albertans to pay for private testing - Bill 11.
Alberta government approved the sale of 10,600 acres of land to foreign owners in 2025.
Tamara Lich is asking for permission to go to the White House and on a cruise while serving her sentence. This is at the same time Pat King lost the appeal and is facing jail time for his actions in the Freedom Convoy.
Assuming that all Canadian citizens and permanent residents continue to qualify for public health care and education as they do now, do you support the Government of Alberta charging a reasonable fee or premium to individuals with a non-permanent immigration status living in Alberta for their and their family’s use of the healthcare and education systems?
Things to consider:
Many Temporary Foreign Workers already pay income tax and payroll taxes. They also pay CPP and EI.
International students already pay significantly HIGHER tuition than domestic students: Bachelor of Education - Elementary Ed. Living off campus. The University of Alberta
Foreign Student ~ $36,000/yr. - Cost of a 4-year program ~ $144,000
Canadian Citizen ~ $11,000/yr - Cost of a 4-year program ~ $44,000
They sit 3 days in February, 14 days in March, 10 days in April, and 8 days in May. A total of 35 days in four months, and they say teachers have it easy! The second sitting is only 19 days… 54 days. How many of you work 54 days out of the year?

Family Camp-out
Sesequon Healing Society and White Bear Rising are honoured to present the Wahkomaganuk Family Healing Camp at Rock Island Lake — a culturally grounded, land-based gathering focused on healing, connection, and community wellness. Rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing and guided by Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and lived experience, this camp creates a safe and supportive space for individuals and families to reconnect with culture, spirit, land, and one another.
Set within the natural beauty of Rock Island Lake in Treaty 8 territory, between Calling Lake, AB, and Wabasca, AB. The camp offers a week of cultural teachings, ceremony, storytelling, traditional practices, wellness activities, and trauma-informed healing opportunities. Participants will engage in land-based learning experiences that promote resilience, identity, belonging, and intergenerational healing while strengthening family and community connections.
The camp recognizes the ongoing impacts of colonization, residential schools, grief, loss, addictions, and intergenerational trauma, while also celebrating the strength, wisdom, and resilience of Indigenous peoples. Through cultural revitalization, sharing circles, traditional teachings, and time spent on the land, the gathering aims to restore hope, empowerment, and balance in a holistic way that supports mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.
This gathering is inclusive and welcoming to all people seeking healing, understanding, connection, and community. Together, through culture, compassion, and reconnection to the land, we continue the journey of healing for current and future generations.
Donations and volunteers are welcome and help support the ongoing success of this community-led healing initiative.

You must know your loss matters. We want to document what is happening in our hospitals and the lives that are being impacted or lost because of the Collapse of Alberta Health. Did you know that Alberta Health is no longer tracking deaths because of wait times to see a doctor, lack of EMS, and emergency rooms are closed and not recorded? If you feel comfortable and would like to tell your story, we have a record of lives being impacted by the government’s restructuring of health care in Alberta.

June 28 - July 3
AISH recipients are being moved on to ADAP if they are under 60 and do not have a PDD diagnosis.
Jason Nixon, the UnFinance Minister, missed filing the annual update.)(Nixon has no background in finance - he was I have had several people point out that the NDP was late in filing the Royalty Review when they were in power. These are two different things. The Finance update lets us know how we are doing financially; it affects all Albertans, no matter where you are. The Royalty update affects us, but not directly. I, for one, want to know how we are doing. Where is our money going? (Jason Nixon was sworn in as the Minister of Finance and President of the Treasury Board on May 21, 2026. He previously served as Minister of Environment and Parks, Government House Leader, Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services, and Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services.
Prior to his service as an elected official, Mr. Nixon was a successful entrepreneur. He was also an Executive Director at The Mustard Seed, where he spent several years running an addiction treatment facility. A reminder that as Minister of Social Services, Mr. Nixon approved grants for the shelter system while at the same time receiving a pension from the Mustard Seed, which his father started.
He is also the Minister behind forcing AISH recipients onto ADAP, causing undue stress on the disabled community.) IF this is the best the UCP has to offer in overseeing our financial situation, we may be in trouble.
Danielle Smith put forth a proposal for Alberta to build a pipeline - Pembina Pipelines has entered a non-binding agreement, which means if it falls through, you and I are going to be funding this pipeline (we probably are putting in the lion’s share of the money from pension funds as well as money borrowed through ATB (there were several news announcements recently re: having ATB borrow money so they had an $11 billion line of credit.
Alberta ID is now going to include your citizenship and your healthcare # - be prepared to take a birth certificate or passport to prove your status when renewing.
Stampede is on - The UCP’s Pancake breakfast is scheduled for - you can peacefully protest there - signs and chants

Danielle Smith and Mark Carney announced an oil pipeline to BC that would follow the same route as TMX. BC is deepening the port waters to accommodate larger, heavier oil ships. BC also got deals from the Federal Government to sweeten the pot.
Danielle Smith and Rob Ford announced the Northern Shield Pipeline to run from Hardisty, Alberta, to Sarnia, Ontario, to refine Alberta tar sands oil. They will have to refit the refineries to handle the heavy oil, and then it can be shipped overseas. There is no public pipeline proponent for this one either.
The US Ambassador hosted a Fourth of July Party, inviting Rebel News staff, including Tamara Litch, to the occasion. She thanked the President for everything he has done to support Canadians. (We think she means Canadians like her)
Hoekstra appeared on talk shows claiming Canada did not pay for the Gordie Howe Bridge - the US wants more money and ownership of said bridge.

They are using AI to rewrite government policies
Elections Alberta is set to verify separatists’ referendum petition after court stay.
Alberta uses AI to overhaul aging public tech, saving billions. (What oversight is there? And what will be the future costs? I wonder if they are using this to rewrite the Alberta curriculum)
Alberta announced that META is building a $13 billion AI Data Center. The facility will be located in an area northeast of Edmonton known as the Alberta Industrial Heartland. The metadata centre will be joined by Project Greenlight, a natural gas-powered electricity general facility. The 1-gigawatt facility will run on its own dedicated natural gas power plant and use roughly as much electricity as 800,000 homes. It confirms the identity of the mystery customer behind a $4.6 billion gas plant announced in the same area last week.

There are reports that Post Media (US right-leaning) bought up Canadian papers, pushing the Overton Window to the right.
Water Not Coal is prepared to fight the finding that they did not receive enough signatures.
Alberta launches online regulated gambling framework. They claim that Alberta’s iGaming market is now live with stronger player protections and increased social responsibility measures.
There are reports that Collective Bargaining Rights are being undermined across Canada.
Edmonton’s Northside flooded from two storms this week. Killarney School had its roof ripped off, basements flooded, Telus World of Science, the ATA Barnett House, and the Yellowhead was shut down for 2-3 days after the flood.
Judge freezes $8.5 million of Alberta separatist lawyer’s assets amid First Nation Trust fight. Jeffrey Rath is the lawyer behind the Alberta Prosperity Project. He has faced similar situations before as well.
Sam Mraiche is back in the news - Gift Article: G&M Alberta First Nation suing lawyer, alleges wrongdoing in construction of addiction recovery centers. Mariche Connection mentioned.
An Alberta First Nation is suing the federal government to increase the annual payment to First Nations - it has been $5 since 1899.
Edmonton had its last flyover by the Canadian Snowbirds on Wednesday; their jets are being grounded at the end of this year. New planes will be coming - propeller, not jets.

Referendum:
Question One:
Do you support the Government of Alberta taking increased control over immigration for the purposes of decreasing immigration to more sustainable levels, prioritizing economic migration, and giving Albertans first priority on new employment opportunities?
Things to consider:
Immigration is a shared federal-provincial responsibility under the Constitution.
Alberta already helps select immigrants through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program: In 2024 and early 2025, the AAIP will consider an invitation to apply based on the following priorities:
Do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law mandating that only Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and individuals with an Alberta approved immigration status will be eligible for provincially funded programs, such as health care, education, and other social services?
Things to consider:
Permanent Residents already pay taxes and are permanent members of Canadian society.
Temporary Foreign Workers and International Students also contribute through taxes, tuition, and labour.
Changes could affect employers already facing labour shortages. (See the ** document at the end if you are an employer on how to deal with this.)
Provinces must still operate within the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Some publicly funded services are already restricted based on immigration status.
Government Benefit Programs (the federal government funds healthcare for refugees - this is a table that provides information on health programs in Alberta)
Assuming that all Canadian citizens and permanent residents continue to qualify for social support programs as they do now, do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law requiring all individuals with a non-permanent legal immigration status to reside in Alberta for at least 12 months before qualifying for any provincially funded social support programs?
Things to consider:
Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents would be affected under this proposal
They have extended the time from 5 years to 6 years to be eligible for PR status.
There has been a reduction in the number of people eligible for immigration status by the Federal Government.
Temporary Foreign Workers often work and pay taxes before qualifying for Social Programs.
