Meanings: We chose Resistor for the name of this newsletter
The meaning of RESISTOR is a device that has electrical resistance, and that is used in an electric circuit for protection, operation, or current control. We see our job as an opportunity to offer protection to the people who join us. To operate together and to keep the energy flowing to ensure we can stand up to this government.
A resister is one who resists, stands firm against something, refuses compliance, or withstands temptation. A resister may also be a coating that protects a surface during some processes. Related words are resist, resists, resisted, resisting, resistible, resistibility, and resistibly. Resister appears in the late fourteenth century from the Old French word resister, meaning hold out against.
We are both… a resistor that allows the current to connect the dots and one who resists.
AB Resistance believes that ALL Albertans have the right to be informed. If you have events to advertise, please reach out to us either on our Facebook page, our website, or at ABResistance.ca. Cracks are starting to appear. We just need to keep putting on the pressure.

The Week of July 4 - 10th
The Stampede continues.
Danielle Smith and Mark Carney announced an oil pipeline to BC that would follow the same route as TMX. BC is deepening the port waters to accommodate larger, heavier oil ships. BC also got deals from the Federal Government to sweeten the pot.
Danielle Smith and Rob Ford announced the Northern Shield Pipeline to run from Hardisty, Alberta, to Sarnia, Ontario, to refine Alberta tar sands oil. They will have to refit the refineries to handle the heavy oil, and then it can be shipped overseas. There is no public pipeline proponent for this one either.
The US Ambassador hosted a Fourth of July Party, inviting Rebel News staff, including Tamara Litch, to the occasion. She thanked the President for everything he has done to support Canadians. (We think she means Canadians like her)
Hoekstra appeared on talk shows claiming Canada did not pay for the Gordie Howe Bridge - the US wants more money and ownership of said bridge.
Rogers cuts 230 jobs, closes radio stations in Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax, and Kitchener.
Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, is behind a massive artificial intelligence data centre planned for Sturgeon County, Alberta, Juno News has confirmed. Alberta uses AI to overhaul aging public tech, saving billions. (What oversight is there? And what will be the future costs? I wonder if they are using this to rewrite the Alberta curriculum)
Alberta announced - META is building a $13 billion AI Data Center. The facility will be located in an area northeast of Edmonton known as the Alberta Industrial Heartland. The Meta data centre will be joined by Project Greenlight, a natural gas-powered electricity general facility. The 1-gigawatt facility will run on its own dedicated natural gas power plant and use roughly as much electricity as 800,000 homes. It confirms the identity of the mystery customer behind a $4.6 billion gas plant announced in the same area last week.

Referendum - Question Two:
Do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law mandating that only Canadian citizens, permanent residents and individuals with an Alberta approved immigration status will be eligible for provincially-funded programs, such as health care, education and other social services?
Things to consider:
Permanent Residents already pay taxes and are permanent members of Canadian society.
Temporary Foreign Workers and International Students also contribute through taxes, tuition, and labour.
Changes could affect employers already facing labour shortages. (See the ** document at the end if you are an employer on how to deal with this.)
Provinces must still operate within the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Some publicly funded services are already restricted based on immigration status.

July 11th, Saturday – Humanity Co-op – Public Meeting: “I have a goal of a better world, a peaceful world, in which every human on the planet has enough to live comfortably and is working for an even better world for future generations. The above is the personal goal of every member of The Humanity Co-op. There are members on five continents. The cost of membership is not monetary; it is only a willingness to make the above goal also your personal goal. While we encourage co-operation, each member is free to decide whom, if anyone, they want to work with, as well as what they will do and how they will do it, as they work towards this goal. A small group of Humanity Co-op members is active locally. Many people in the Edmonton Area do not have enough to live comfortably. Most would like good-paying jobs. In a money-focused world where employers often think of employees as an expense to be minimized, employees find themselves competing for good-paying jobs. Advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, and other technologies are offering employers less expensive alternatives to human employees. Unless we change the way we think, there will be even fewer jobs with even less pay in the near future. Let’s change the way we think! Let’s understand that: 1. Our standard of living depends, not on money, but on our productivity. If we spend money to employ someone to create more value, the expense does not make us poorer; the added productivity makes us richer. 2. Money, by itself, has no value. Work, by itself, has value. If we were all given a huge inheritance and all decided to stop working, we would all starve. We don’t need the money. We need the value created by our work. 3. Our employers pay our wages with money that they get by selling the goods and services that we produce to us and to other people like us. We already pay each other’s wages. Let’s start thinking like members of a cooperative community. There’s lots to do. Let’s create co-op businesses where we are owners as well as employees and customers. (It’s been done before. (This week, there was the tragic death of a father and husband who sat in the Emergency Room at Grey Nuns Hospital for over 8 hours and died of a heart attack.)
You must know your loss matters. We want to document what is happening in our hospitals and the lives that are being impacted or lost because of the Collapse of Alberta Health. Did you know that Alberta Health is no longer tracking deaths because of wait times to see a doctor, lack of EMS, and emergency rooms are closed and not recorded. If you feel comfortable and would like to tell your story, so we have a record of lives being impacted by the government’s restructuring of health care in Alberta.

What happened in Alberta this week?
AISH recipients are being moved on to ADAP if they are under 60 and do not have a PDD diagnosis.
Jason Nixon, the UnFinance Minister, missed filing the annual update.)(Nixon has no background in finance - he was I have had several people point out that the NDP was late in filing the Royalty Review when they were in power. These are two different things. The Finance update lets us know how we are doing financially; it affects all Albertans, no matter where you are. The Royalty update affects us, but not directly. I, for one, want to know how we are doing. Where is our money going? (Jason Nixon was sworn in as the Minister of Finance and President of the Treasury Board on May 21, 2026. He previously served as Minister of Environment and Parks, Government House Leader, Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services, and Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services.
Prior to his service as an elected official, Mr. Nixon was a successful entrepreneur. He was also an Executive Director at The Mustard Seed, where he spent several years running an addiction treatment facility. A reminder that as Minister of Social Services, Mr. Nixon approved grants for the shelter system while at the same time receiving a pension from the Mustard Seed, which his father started.
He is also the Minister behind forcing AISH recipients onto ADAP, causing undue stress on the disabled community.) IF this is the best the UCP has to offer in overseeing our financial situation, we may be in trouble.
Danielle Smith put forth a proposal for Alberta to build a pipeline - Pembina Pipelines has entered a non-binding agreement, which means if it falls through, you and I are going to be funding this pipeline (we probably are putting in the lion’s share of the money from pension funds as well as money borrowed through ATB (there were several news announcements recently re: having ATB borrow money so they had an $11 billion line of credit.
Alberta ID is now going to include your citizenship and your healthcare # - be prepared to take a birth certificate or passport to prove your status when renewing.
Do you support the Government of Alberta taking increased control over immigration for the purposes of decreasing immigration to more sustainable levels, prioritizing economic migration, and giving Albertans first priority on new employment opportunities?
