Long time, no post! Happy to have rediscovered the spark to put thoughts to paper (or screen, technically) again.
This is more of a confession than a blog post, hope you enjoy reading!😄
Back in 2021, I had a novel idea or so I thought to build an app in the pet care space in 2021. I even had a catchy tag line too “tinder for dogs“; your one stop shop for everything pet care and health. Excited, I jumped straight into designing and prototyping in figma (rookie mistake!).
Life and work got busy and decided to shelf the idea, telling myself I’d return to it when I had “more time”.
Fast forward to late 2024, I finally bought the domain and got to work (yayyy me! 🎉), chose a new name (Pawpals 🐾), and a refined tag line “AI-powered pet care assistant“.
I launched a landing page/waitlist checkout the page, promising many great features. I went all in on this, added the geo-location features, reminders, and the AI assistant. I showed it to a couple of veterinary professionals and pet owners, and got really good feedbacks that motivated me to lock in. I was happy!
Then comes the familiar creative trap, “maybe I need to tweak the AI assistant, or train a different model, maybe add this and that feature“… you already know how this goes. I did nothing!
After few weeks, and the excuse of focusing on my career. I eventually abandoned the project. In the time I kept procrastinating, MCPs (Multi-Agent Cooperative Protocols) were introduced in May 2025.
Suddenly the entire value proposition of my precious application can be achieved by a well built MCP server (cue the tears 😭).
Maybe not.
In the words of Jared Dunn (Silicon Valley, S01, EP08): “We’ve got a great name, we’ve got a great team, we’ve got a great logo, and we’ve got a great name. Now we just need an idea. Let’s pivot! Let’s pivot!“.
Pawpals could still live on, maybe as a custom MCP. Maybe something else entirely.
At the moment, I’m currently working on something different, outside the healthcare space. But I’m always open to ideas of what pawpals can become. Until then, you can play with the very first version of the web app here: pawpals v1
I also hope to write more often, but don’t hold me to that! 🙈 😄
