Life#

Last week I got back to work after a week’s break. And work I did! I switched my office cab time from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM so that I could sleep a little longer. Now I have breakfast at home instead of office, and I start working right from the cab so that I get to work same amount of time. I’ve been sleeping 10+ hours every night and it is finally working! I feel much better than a few weeks ago, almost back to my normal health.

I’ve noticed that HRV is a good overall indicator of my health. The following chart shows my weekly average HRV over the last one month, as captured by my smartwatch:

You can see how it slowly went down over the first two weeks and then started to go back up over the last two weeks. It’s still not back up all the way, I hope it does soon.

The weather has been great. Mostly cloudy and very windy. The sound of the wind blowing hard is between soothing and scary to me. I’m still not working out a lot but I’ll try to do better this week.

Our 3yo A was at home for the entire week, recovering from the fatigue of a stomach infection. Last Sunday we finally went out. We went to a couple of bookshops and got A some icecream at Naturals. I had a Jamun icecream, which was unexpectedly tasty.

I restarted my dieting after a few week of erratic eating. I also restarted going to my drum classes. I went to four classes last week, and learned to play Levitating by Dua Lipa. It took me about an hour to learn it, not too bad I think. I also had the great idea of recording the drumming sessions on my smartwatch as cardio activities. It feels like a workout to me so why not record it as well.

IndieWebClub#

We had an IndiewebClub Bangalore discussion session on Saturday, the topic of this time being Anonymity and Indieweb. It was a fun session with a lot of interesting discussions. After the session, I wrote a note retrospecting the IndieWebClub Bangalore: Special Edition Meetup.

Personal Projects#

I worked a little on my website last week. I added:

  • Support for displaying drumming activities on the Activities page.
  • Support for rendering replies received via Webmentions.
  • A calendar-style Archive page for all posts and notes.

In particular, I love how the Archive page shows all my posting activity over years in one glance.

I also realized that my website was not receiving webmentions for Mastodon interactions via Bridgy. After some investigation, it turned out that the Cloudflare security rules I set up for blocking bots were preventing Bridgy from reaching my website. I added an exception for it by the User-Agent and it started working again.

Watching#

Wife and I made some time to go watch Supergirl at a movie hall. It was great fun, but it felt so much of a James Gunn movie. I’m starting to get a bit bored of the typical JG style.

After Witch Hat Atelier ended last week, I started watching JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. I had been eyeing it for a long time, but never dared to watch it because it is so long. I started with season 5 Stone Ocean, and I intend to watch previous seasons later.
