This week note covers the week of 25th–31st May.
Life#
Compared to the week before, I was in good health for most of the last week. I managed to get a lot of work done, and attended three drumming classes as well. Though my playing is still very sloppy, sight reading is slowly coming back to me. I recorded myself playing, and later cringed at the inaccuracies. I’m sad to see how much my skills have declined, but I’m happy to report that I’m progressing much faster than a beginner. I hope that I can finish 3–4 grades worth of learning in a year.
Rains are here to stay, and the weather is much cooler too. Unfortunately, I’m still not in a condition to exercise. I skipped going to the gym last week, and may not be able to this week as well. No running for me either. I didn’t even walk 10000 steps everyday. I don’t like it, but my body needs the rest right now.
IndieWebClub#
The most important event last week for me was the IndieWebClub Bangalore: Special Edition Meetup on Saturday. Through the week, Ankur, Tanvi and I continued doing rehearsals with speakers. On the day before the event, I caught a throat infection, and almost didn’t make it to it. Somehow the medications worked well, and I had enough energy to attend it as an audience (with a mask on, of course).
There was also a lot of event day logistics to take of, which Ankur and Tanvi had to handle in my absence. Thankfully, almost everything went perfectly. The talks were great, the audience response was very positive, and there was cake at the end. I’ll write a separate note about the behind-the-scenes work for organizing the mini-conference. All in all, the event went very smoothly, considering it was only 25 days from conception to actualization.
Reading/Watching#
Wife and I finished watching the Korean Sci-fi show The Wonderfools. It was fun, but I was amused by its sensibilities. This was my first K-show. I felt a lot of scenes were too loose, the jokes were weirdly timed, characters were somewhat incoherent, and action was too violent. My wife informs me that a lot of K-shows are like this. I don’t think I’m going to watch another K-show in near future.
I binge-watched The Amazing Digital Circus, an Australian adult-animation show. It was exactly the kind of wacky show I love. It reminded me a bit of Xavier: Renegade Angel, which is an all-time favourite of mine. Both are highly recommended if you are into quirky animation. I continue watching Bocchi the Rock! and Witch Hat Atelier.
I finished reading all episodes of Space Boy. It was utterly captivating. I’m eagerly waiting for more episodes to come out.
