Life#

Last week was a mixed bag. I had some minor health issues that lasted almost through the week. It was annoying and uncomfortable, but I worked through it. My wife and child A also had some cough and cold because of the arrival of rains in Bengaluru. But I am not complaining. The rains have been a lifesaver for me. The temperature has gone down by more than 5 °C and my mood has improved drastically. I know that the rains caused a lot of issues for the traffic last week in Bengaluru, but somehow I managed to narrowly escape them all.

Last week was A’s short summer vacation. After the heat declined, we went around doing small things. On Friday, I took a leave and all three of us went to the Google Ananta office (shown in the photo above). I know that many Google offices around the world are something of a spectacle, but Ananta is first such office in India. We played some games in the mini-arcade and A loved going on the tall slide. Then we had lunch in the cafeteria and headed back home. On Sunday, we went for a picnic in a neighbourhood park. We played board games under the trees and A collected flowers and leaves, which she later stuck on paper to make some art. It was fun.

I mentioned last time that I was thinking of joining a music class. I wanted to learn how to play a bass guitar, but no one seems to teach it in my vicinity. So I decided to go for a drum class. I used to play drums a decade ago, but I’m very rusty now. I hope things come back to me quickly.

Turns out, my Garmin watch counts playing drums as walking, so I accumulated thousands of fake steps last week. I need to figure out how to stop it from doing that.

Functional Programming India Meetup#

After a long gap, I finally made it to the FP India meetup last Saturday. It was great meeting and catching up with the folks. Saachi presented a talk on Chess Problems and Provers In Lean, which was really fun. I learned a lot.

IndieWebClub#

The schedule for the IndieWebClub Bangalore: Special Edition Meetup is out now. Ankur, Tanvi and I spent a lot of time in the talk rehearsals. Everything is coming together nicely.

Personal Projects#

I finally open-sourced feed-repeat. I did the final bits of polishing this week, cleaned everything up, and released it. I also wrote an accompanying announcement note.

Watching/Reading#

I continued rewatching Bocchi the Rock!. It is definitely a top-tier anime for me. Wife and I started watching a Korean Sci-fi show The Wonderfools, which has also been fun. By a random coincidence, I started reading Space Boy, a web comic.

Interesting Internet Links#

That’s all for this week. You can subscribe to the feed of my week notes for updates.
