Friday Letters: Why We Avoid the Things We Want Most

I’m so grateful for your thoughtful responses to Tuesday’s post. Your comments made it clear that I’m not the only grown-up in the room who has stressed over and avoided the world of financial literacy.

My mention about growing up in a house where we didn’t really talk about money had me worried about offending my mother (one of my most devoted Substack readers and a truly wonderful parent!). When she left a comment on the post, I thought, “Oh, ****! I better text her with an apology!”

But what followed was a gracious and enlightening exchange.
