Why Following Guidelines is Not Synonymous with Evidence-Based Medicine
We hosted Brad Spellberg, MD, CMO of LA General Medical Center, on February 9th. Following his Division Grand Rounds on Shorter is Better for Antibiotics, I co-led a session with Brad titled after his moniker, “Guidelines Schmidelines”.
In Part 1, I set the table by reviewing the two fundamental reasons why following guidelines is not necessarily evidence-based medicine.
