The multi billion dollar Homeland Security bureaucracy was established by the Bush administration on the pretext of keeping us safe from terrorism. It was founded on the excuse that intelligence agencies had failed to communicate with each other resulting in the Sept 11'th attack. Warnings from government agents were ignored. Coincidentally 9/11 was the only day that NORAD was ever ordered to stand down, by then Vice President Cheney. No reasons given by the White House. The Bush administration however did declare that the US was an empire and could create it's own reality.

The "reality" resides in convincing Americans of the reality and wisdom of the federal government by justifying invasions and wars. Obama, Trump and Biden have followed this doctrine. They convince the public that they are doing the right thing.
Remember Y2K when the country was going to fall apart due to a flaw in computer programming and hardware? The claim by the government was that the software only contained the last two digits in the year field and when the clock rolled over to the year 2000 all the systems would crash and result in chaos. It was an outrageous lie. In other words, they were saying no institutions had upgraded systems for 30 years. They were still running the same hardware and software as in the 70's. Furthermore, more to calculate social security benefits or mortgage in 1970 calculations (among other things) the year field would have necessarily have needed 4 digits in the year field. So the federal government "saved the day" by sending in government employees to "fix" the impending catastrophe by installation of the software and hardware required to monitor the population through the internet and telecommunication systems. There were no crises when the date rolled over. Computer code and hardware are anything but perfect and mistakes can be corrected.

The RealID has a photo which federal government and state government agencies have to establish a persons identity. Anyone with a state ID or drivers license can be instantly identified by their face and name. And yet the residents of Maui who lost all their paperwork in the fire have to prove who they are by other means difficult or impossible to come by. Shop at Walmart and you're recognized by facial recognition software. Medical care can be denied for lack of proper ID. Jobs can be denied without valid ID. Clearview AI is being used by federal and local agencies for prosecution of alleged criminals (like women seeking abortions). Facial recognition software is practically 100% reliable. Why wouldn't it be used to establish identity for people who have lost their paperwork?
It seems there are some gaping holes in Homeland Security. Thousands of illegal immigrants are entering the country- women and children seeking asylum, who the entire federal government is powerless to stop. Barefoot starving children can foil border security. So how do CBP agents stop terrorists from entering the country by the same means, i.e. walking across the border? There hasn't been a terrorist attack on American soil since the inception of Homeland Security but the southern border is wide open.
Weapons for Mexican drug cartels are being shipped from the US to Mexico unabated. Deadly drugs are being shipped back to the US by the same drug Lords killing people by the thousands. Congress is discussing invading Mexico with the US military as a solution.
American citizens have to have the "proper ID" to board a domestic flight, after being x-rayed, searched and stamped with a ticket indicating that they may be a terrorist and require a more intensive search based on "secret" information collected by the government. A simple one way ticket will put you on the terrorist list. Homeland Security is after "domestic terrorists".
Americans are being censored, arrested and executed by the police and the government for protesting and exercising their constitutional rights. Speaking out against genocide now labels one as a terrorist, or at best a communist or antisemitic for speaking out against the Zionist genocide in Gaza. The Patriot Act is showing its true colors. The definition of a "terrorist" was left undefined in the Patriot Act and can conveniently include Americans. Witness Edward Snowden who dared bring to light the illegal surveillance program by government under the Patriot Act. Witness the illegal detention and torture of Guantanamo inmates under international law and the US Constitution.
The "Cop City" death of a protester where 57 bullets were found to be the cause of death in the autopsy. Investigation of the 6 State troopers involved resulted in exoneration of all the officers. No gun was found on the victim and no body cam footage from any of the officers who were all wearing cameras. The autopsy revealed that the victim had his hands raised when he was shot. Yet it was considered justifiable force. Shoot to kill is becoming the norm in police policy. Tear gas alone should have been enough to subdue the victim.
The people were protesting against something that was unwanted and unnecessary and violently put down by the government. This is only one of many such incidents which are occuring more frequently across America. It's also one of the more blatant demonstrations of a failed and corrupt justice system and government.
Where was Homeland Security in regards to COVID? COVID was being researched in a Chinese laboratory under the direction of Anthony Fauci with US funds. Laboratories in the US couldn't do the research? I find that hard to believe. What was the purpose of the research? Gain of function research? What does that mean? Homeland Security doesn't concern itself with biological weapons or attacks? Thats hard to imagine as well. The COVID epidemic effectively shut down the US economy for 2 years and put millions out of work. One step closer to poverty or put in poverty. The benevolent response of the government was a $2000 check which would hardly pay a months rent. The US had more deaths from COVID-19 than any other country in the world including India with 3 times the population.
Best medical system in the world? The numbers show otherwise. The pharmaceutical and medical industry profited billions of dollars at taxpayers expense off vaccines and tests. “Free” according to the government. Actually just on the credit of taxpayers, to be paid later added to an unimaginable 34 trillion dollar deficit.
The one thing that the US excels at is war. Creating them, but not necessarily winning them. The Vietnam war against communism was a complete failure and now Vietnam is considered a manufacturing partner. The Korean war is effectively still ongoing. The Iraq war was based on lies. Saddam Hussein was reacting to Kuwait cross drilling for oil in Iraq oil fields. Afghanistan was a disaster. Now the US is conducting a proxy war in Ukraine against Russia and genocide against Palistinian people with Israel leading the charge. A minimally armed nation against advanced weapons supplied by the US. All based on lies. The US could stop the genocide by stopping shipments of military supplies to Israel. Instead it blocked a UN proposal for a ceasefire.
"The War On Poverty" was declared in the 60's and poverty has increased. "The War On Drugs" was declared in the 70's and drug usage and death has reached epidemic levels, largely through legal pharmaceuticals with the opioids crisis.
George W. Bush declared the "War On Terror" which will be a never ending war because a terrorist is only defined as someone who disagrees with a political belief. A terrorist can also be a freedom fighter. The American Revolution could be viewed as an act of terrorism against Britain by todays standards. Guerrilla tactics were used against the British to win the war. Manifest Destiny WAS an act of terrorism against indigenous people by the US. Might does not make right. Unless you are on the winning side.
Now the Biden administration is granting 1.5 trillion dollars for upgrades to nuclear weapons. It seems that the”Best if used by date” is about to expire. It will not keep us safe. It will only fuel a new arms race and cold war. It is an irresponsible and despicable act in the face of climate change and increasing poverty, homelessness and failing infrastructure in America. It will make the world far more unstable and unsafe. Limited nuclear war is now being considered and discussed openly. Mutually Assured Destruction, the MAD doctrine of the previous Cold War no longer applies to use of nuclear weapons. The upgrade will likely foster another nuclear arms race and cold war with China, North Korea,Iran and Russia pushing us closer to nuclear armegeddon.
No system is perfect. Perfection does not exist in the world. The constitution was written to take this into account by amendment when required. Democracy is not perfect. The majority can be tyrannical as well as the minority. Our government currently is based on the will of a minority who are tyrannical rather than the people in the majority. A minority who believe they are entitled to their wealth and power when in fact it has been stolen.
The purpose of Homeland Security is not to protect citizens from terrorism, it is to protect the government and corporations from the people. It's actually about control of the people. The new digital form of communication and the internet are a means of control over the people. Collecting and analyzing data is the ultimate means of control. It enables the propaganda machine that citizens are subject to. The US government is no longer worthy of the citizens or the worlds trust or respect. It only serves itself and corporate interests mainly in the military industrial complex. It is arrogant and self-serving, ignoring the basic principles it was founded on. The US government has become a corporation unto itself. It has divided the country into two factions of citizens unable to make rational decisions because the media doesn't report the facts needed to make a good decision. The manual also describes how computer programs are used to monitor and adjust methods used to achieve the most benefit out of a psyops operation. pp 130
Public disinformation activities are exactly what the US government is engaged in. Americans have been divided over minor issues while major issues are ignored. “Freedom in America” yields the most incarcerated population on the planet.
So the war on poverty rages on, the war on drugs rages on, the war against the planet rages on and one government solution is a $ 1.5 trillion upgrade nuclear weapons to keep us “safe. Another is to rile up the Middle East with a genocidal proxy war conducted against Palistinian people by Israel. Not to forget China, North Korea, Russia and Iran. All of which the US considers threats to democracy which the US government is no longer based upon.
