I am watching too many movies. I know this, but for some reason I cannot stop.
Part of my debilitating habit is out of obligation: I need to do awards voting, so it’s sort of an occupational hazard. Also, if I see a small movie that I think I can make time for, I do try to catch up to it. But I think I need to slow down soon. Maybe in November I’ll take a brief break and work on other things, or maybe even *gasp* do nothing.
I’m not complaining. I prefer to be busy than to have nothing to do, but this is always the hardest time of the year, mostly because I get very little time to watch, read, and listen to what I actually want to listen to. Watching enough movies for awards voting takes its own kind of discipline. You know you need to watch x amount of movies if you’re going to fulfill your commitments.
Then again, being this deep in awards voting allows me to disassociate a bit from current events.
