Instagram now lets you reorganize your grid, officially cementing its resurgence
The TL;DR: This week Instagram announced a new feature that users have been begging for - the ability for accounts to reorganize their grids. Social marketers have spent the last decade (nearly) trying to convince brands to focus on the feed, not their grid. This news, coupled with declining feed distribution of brand-owned content, reverses that direction.
This revival of the grid is a convergence of a few different factors we’re seeing:

A growing emphasis on perceived effort in content, as Rachel Karten outlined in Link in Bio, to be distinctive to algorithms and prove when AI isn’t being used.
A return to 2015-style social (long live the cinemagraph).
The fact that followers are no longer an indicator that a brand’s owned content will travel.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Shift your mindset from push, to pull on Instagram. Give people a reason to care consistently and make yourself findable.
Off-page community engagement remains the single most important organic action a brand can take day-to-day to fuel discovery and participate with potential customers. When you land a killer comment on someone else’ s post, people want to see what you’re all about via your profile. Make sure your grid immediately and consistently communicates your brand world aesthetically and narratively.
Think of the grid as more of a “business card” or a landing page for users to see what you’re about, understand your vibe, and see if it’s a world they’re interested in or if they want to further the relationship.
