i’ve been on and off with someone since i was 13, these are all poems i wrote about him. i think we are officially off now, so i’m sharing the poems with you all since i can no longer share with him.
a wasp posed as a bee
he pretended it killed him to sting me
still i could never flee
it seemed that neither could he
his stripes are the ones we’ll always see
but he used to lie, say we could still be
i’m still waiting for an epiphany
so i can break free
and no longer wait for his so-called honey
the most religious i ever felt
it was after meeting you, when i knelt
the only prayer in my timeline
and i just wished for you to be mine
i never believed in a god, or that he had a plan
but maybe he does, because for me you’re the only
man
it seems god knew who to put in my sight
because nothing could ever be more right
a pirate, lost at sea
“you’ll never find the gold”
she won’t let that be
for her greed will never get old
so she will never flee
no matter how much she is told
“you don’t even have the key”
because without it, she feels cold
for it’s not just a hobby
she’s just desperate for treasure to hold
and without it she’ll never feel free
for her agony is too bold
so she doesn’t care when people disagree
she thinks it’s worth every scold
and that one day everyone will see
all that she foretold
even when all the sky does is rain
and everyone is reminded of their pain
my urge to call will remain
i love you, to put it plain
even when all the rain does is fall
and everyone starts to bawl
i still want to give you a call
because without you i have lost it all
even when the sky is full with a cloud
and everyone is being loud
i still want to leave the crowd
because i feel alone if i’m not able to love you outloud
even when all the sun does is beam
and the heat turns everyone mean
i still wish you would call
i would forgive you for it all
