First things first, we’re a week away from our Mean Girls show! (Tickets, here!)
And the thing about this newsletter is, a lot of people won’t be able to make it. I totally get it! It’s too far, too expensive, you need a babysitter, you’re not allowed in New York City, you’re not allowed around Jeff — we all have reasons. (Not me, I’ll be there.) But some of you will hit us up and ask, how can I still support this show? And there’s our usual responses:
Like, share baby, subscribe and all that.
Obviously. Doesn’t take much.
But, this morning, I came up with a new way: we now have stickers, and magnets!
And bumper decals for your car!
So, that’s all exciting stuff. And, of course, we have t-shirts for sale — all of this is for sale on our Shopify site.
And that leads us to the thing we’re actually supporting, which is 2J3BD itself! We’ve got a new episode this week, about Uptown Saturday Night, the 1974 Black comedy classic starring Sidney Poitier and a young Bill Cosby as they try to recover a winning lottery ticket, lost within a gang-related stick-up. Richard Pryor and Harry Belafonte (who has a super-well-reviewed new biography our Mom is reading) also make appearances.
And we do an Is Jadakiss Italian? segment around the 55:45 mark, so stay tuned for that.
I’m gonna keep things brief today because Johan and I have to go do a walk-through of City Winery in a few minutes, but here’s our upcoming calendar:
Let me just say: we recorded The Town episode last week, and it is so so so good. I don’t know how Eric’s going to edit it, but it was long, crazy and super fun. The movie’s streaming on HBO and Hulu, and can be rented on Amazon. Mean Girls is free on Pluto, Eternal Sunshine is free on YouTube.
And that’s it! That’s all I got for you this week © Don Don aka Sheek Louch.
As always, you can also find us on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, Instagram, TikTok and right here, for our weekly newsletter. Tune in for our The Town episode Monday!
And until then, here’s the form to suggest movies!
Here’s what everyone sent in last week. Interesting question from Kissimmee, FL, who asks “Who would win in a knife fight between Jeff and Styles?” I’ll field this one. I think Styles would, because he’s about 80% crazier than me. But he was just telling me last week about how good my reach is and how valuable that would be in a fight against a shorter individual such as himself. (He then explained how years ago he gave someone — a friend of theirs — a trip to the ER with a hernia after ramming this dude in the stomach with his shoulder.) So, yea, Styles got this one.
