Mother Sun

There is a holy mother in all of the tales
I believe she is the sun
over the years decades centuries
her divine gifts
warmth
light
life itself
were claimed by men
who told her she was nothing but a moody rock
bound by gravity and time

I think we all know
that the moon is just a man
always following her light
dragging the oceans with him
like a sleepy child drags a blanket
She accepts this
allows this
she even shares the sky with him
though
he is unfaithful
Petulantly disappearing, then
insisting we treat him as special
every time he comes back around
I think we all know
that without her
he would be
nothing
