247 Comics Fam,
BLADESMYTH, VOLUME 1 is coming in less than two weeks! The campaign launches on Tuesday, June 9th at 9amPDT.
Knives have many uses.
Loren is a brilliant chef... and even more brilliant assassin. From writers Justin Calen-Chenn and Lingie Park, artist Creees Lee, and colorist Wil Quintana comes an action thriller delicacy.
This new collected edition compiles the first three issues of the series and expands the world of the Bladesmyths with 12 new pages! It also features behind-the-scenes insight, with script pages and character designs, plus an exclusive Artist Edition. This will be double the length, with everything from the deluxe edition plus all of Creees’ original line art.
Wil Quintana, whose saturated neon night scenes delighted fans of Zero Ghost, returns to color this series. Wil is an Eisner Award–winning colorist with a masterful, painterly approach bringing emotional depth and cinematic color to comic books.
He has colored the likes of Captain America, Spider-Man, The Avengers, Blue Beetle, Dark Knights Rising and Aquaman.
Wil Quintana’s Process
Wil talked a little about his approach to coloring: “I get the line art as well as the script. I take a look at the script for any specific color notes from the team. Then, I’ll use photo reference for most of the environment as well as photo reference for the food that Creees hooks me up with.”
“I’ll also do my best to try to add a bit of an environmental atmosphere to the pages as well as splashes of color to convey themes of emotion or action in a panel. I run the pages by the team and make any changes that are asked for or needed.”
Here’s Wil’s first pass on the new banner art featuring Mina from Creees:
These are the flat colors, which is the first stage of the coloring process. Will is selecting what basic colors will be featured. This is what it looks like with Creees’ line art:
Then Wil added the fine details and made adjustments which accentuate her piercing, alluring gaze:
And finally, here is the banner image after our graphics designer Jane added the title. The final result is stellar.
