i hear you. I don’t like Amazon either, and i wish I didn’t have to use my Kindle e-reader.

Bezos has more than enough money.

But unfortunately, my current geographic location, Turkiye, makes it hard to find affordable and readily available English books.

So I’m left with the cheapest option of purchasing from Amazon Kindle, sometimes I’ll order a physical book here and there, but it costs me an arm and a leg and takes monthssss to get to me.

by the way, i’m intentionally writing with a shit ton of grammar mistakes so you know this is a human typing away and not A.I.

Back to what i was saying! If a book is worth the high shipping price to get to me allll the way in Istanbul, i’ll wait and pay it of course. But in this economy…wooh! that better be a good book.

Because, of course, something about feeling a book’s physical pages, the smell of a fresh, new book, an e-reader can’t beat that. Screens don’t have a smell, at least i don’t think they do.

So yes, for these reasons, primarily i read from my Kindle….

But the point i want to press here is that i’m reading.

Because let’s remember, that’s the whole point of reading…is to read.

Not everything requires a debate. Not everything needs to be turned into a guilt-tripping tactic.

There’s a ton of Instagram content around e-readers and physical books. Much of it causes e-readers to feel ashamed. At least i do.

I used to sit there arguing back and forth with others over this topic, when to be honest, all along I could have just been debating with an Amazon bot the whole time or a Barnes & Noble bot, trying to pressure me into reading physical or e-reader.

That might sound conspiratorial, but when 15 to 30% of social media conversations on hot topic-specific content are from bot-automated accounts, you have to wonder.

Anyway, what im here to say is just get lost in the current book you’re reading, get lost in its pages, its depth and storyline, how it hooks you.

The point here is that everything on social media today is about distraction.

And this is yet another form of distraction. Rather than pushing you to just read, read, read, some people want you to argue and stall over what format you’ll read the book on.

And I’m here to say, that’s not the point.

Debate over what’s in the book, how the story drew you along, what pulled you toward it and kept you on its pages, not about if you read it on an e-reader or not—hardcover, paperback, etc. It doesn’t matter.

In the end, you’re reading the same book. Only the format is different.

Push2Read exists for people who want their attention back.
