Thanks to progesterone, I am now sleeping. Reliably. Even if my potato dog stabs me in the kidneys with his knife paws, or my empty brained orange tom cat paws an eyeball at 5am if the kibble bowl lingers below the halfway. I assumed that this new-old thing, REM sleep, was going to stop the big brain freeze that often happens when I start a new project. It has not.
I never get writer’s block, but I do get disorganized and paralyzed in a way that makes me ineffective at setting up the time and space necessary to write. Lately I’ve been scrollmerized, even when I get out of the house and sit at a coffee shop. And when I’m not watching dumb videos, I’m watching tourists drag their kids down Main Street from the cafe window. I am stuck. This morning I watched a writer’s video about a writing retreat. I found myself thinking, I need a writer’s retreat. Maybe that will help.
