Hello again lovely people and welcome to another ‘Dose of Whimsy’ instalment. In this monthly post I share all of my whimsical arty play and creative thoughts. 😊
Hello wonderful person,
I hope that you’re well. I’m writing to you today from the carpark at Cleland Wildlife Park as my baby sleeps peacefully behind me. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about the beautiful animals that we share this earth with and how so many unique and wonderful species are at the brink of extinction.
The legendary Sir David Attenborough turned 100 a few days ago and it’s devastating to think of how much the world has changed in his lifetime. The beauty of the natural world is endlessly captivating and I’m terrified that my daughter won’t be able to see the world in the same way I did.
Despite the apparent bleakness of the world right now, it’s hard to not feel optimistic when you think of all the amazing people all over the world working so hard to protect what we still have.

It’s so easy to feel powerless when watching the news, but there is still so much magic in the world to foster and protect. One such example is the Tarkine rainforest in Tasmania which the Bob Brown Foundation are working tirelessly to protect. I’m not currently in a position to go to Tassie and tie myself to a tree, but I can donate. For a while now I’ve been donating $5 from every one of my Australian Animal A-Z books sold online to Foundation and I just recently donated $200. I have a number of these books in my shed currently and it would be wonderful for them to find new homes. Another month of very little time to journal, especially when I’m so tired from sleepless nights that I’m going to bed at 7.30pm! Half-asleep delirium doodles still count as journaling right?

Snotty Gobble is not as gross as its name might suggest, though it is a sneaky parasite. Snotty gobble entangles it’s self around an unsuspecting host plant and uses its ‘suckers’ to steal water and nutrients.
Next time you’re out and about, look out for snotty gobble and maybe take some time to sketch it too?
