Haseeb Ahmed · Zest

Eighteen months ago I started this blog as “Demystify Engineering”. It was my little corner of the internet where I shared my thoughts on coding, productivity and work culture. But somewhere along the line I realized that I wanted to write on other topics as well. My debugging didn't stop at a computer terminal but followed me into the books I read, places I travelled to and the coffee places I stumbled into. That is when Demystify Engineering outgrew its name.

If you've been subscribed from the early days, Thank you! It was my comeback to blogging after being away for 8 or more years. I loved connecting with people who cared about the same nerdy topics as I did, in the same slightly obsessive manner as me. But overtime I realized that I wanted to write about more than just coding, productivity or work. I wanted to capture the energy of curiosity itself.

The new name is exactly what I want this blog to feel like: a mix of curiosity, caffeine and chasing ideas wherever they might take us! Basically, Zest is what happens when a software engineer reads widely, drinks coffee like it’s a sport, and insists that debugging and navigating foreign metro systems are the same skill.

This is a space for the curious and caffeinated, and you're welcome!

So, what does that actually mean in practice? Here’s what you’ll find here:

  • Technical insights — lessons from coding, debugging, and building things.

  • Frameworks for thinking — productivity, creativity, and ways to approach work and life with a hacker’s mindset.

  • Curious explorations — reflections from travel, reading, and the odd rabbit hole I can’t resist.

  • Playfulness — because not everything has to be serious. Sometimes it’s just about connecting the dots in unexpected ways.

In short: this won’t be a blog with one neat category. It’ll be a collection of ideas I find worth sharing — always with energy, curiosity, and probably a coffee stain or two.

If you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been here since the old days, welcome back. My hope is that Zest will feel like a conversation with a friend who’s excited about too many things — and maybe leave you a little more caffeinated, curious, and ready to debug whatever puzzle you’re facing.
