Hey lovelies! 💜
I just got back from traveling, and I wish I could say it was all sunshine and good vibes, but this trip was for a funeral. So my head and my heart were left in a complicated place.
Here’s the thing about traveling for me… I love it, but it always does something strange to my mentals. The disruption to my routine, the emotional weight of why I was there, my ADHD… I was left feeling heavy, and that feeling followed me straight into my writing. I knew exactly how I wanted the next Scarlet Moon chapter to play out. I could see it vividly in my mind. But the problem was, every time I sat down to write it, the words came out as a jumbled mess.
If you’ve ever experienced writer’s block, you know how maddening it can be. Knowing what you want to say but not being able to say it is its own special kind of torture.
I was about to reach out to my tier members for help because there were several directions I could take with this chapter, and I couldn’t decide which one was best. Figured I should drop a poll for your feedback. But this morning, my muse showed up, full of caffeine, ready to cook. The words and creativity started flowing and wouldn’t stop. Everything clicked into place, and I’m back on my grind. Yey!
I titled the chapter I’m working on, The Queen’s Gambit. Partly because it’s the title of one of my favorite short series. But mostly because those of you who are familiar with Maurisio know that he likes to play chess…with people’s lives. And since his biggest move involves the Dragon Queen…the title fits.
Okay, I’m saying too much.
But I will leave you with this… the upcoming chapter is action-packed, the stakes are high, and I cannot wait for you to read it. Alright, back into the writing cave I go. See you guys on the other side. ✌🏾
