The farm view from the road and our medieval stone wall that’s listed

We have arrived in a warm bath although it was the coldest and snowiest winter since 1942 when we arrived in Denmark. Boy it was a challenge …

The snow started on the last day of our move from Belgium to Denmark, the day that we had to stuff our last belongings and 3 cats in our cars and drive for 8,5 hours through a snowstorm. By midnight we arrived at our rental cottage with the knowledge that Bo had to return to Belgium as there was still stuff in the kitchen that needed to be moved. So he left again in the morning and I went to IKEA in Odense to buy a mattress, as one does.

After that things went fast, smooth and extremely pleasantly. I’m going to say one nasty thing about Belgium and I will rest my case ever after. Belgium doesn’t work as a country, the people are untrustworthy towards the system and towards each other which results in hairy at the heel people something a Dane can’t relate to at all, in fact it’s the total opposite.

The back of the farm (Bo’s toolshed) and the east garden

Despite all of the snow and living without a wifi connection, for the past 3 months, we took advantage of the slow January and February months and we had quite quickly a new heating system, electricity and other modern facilities installed. We are even at a stage that we only have to say Yay to the car import people and we are completely settled into Denmark.

And we have a super fast glass fibre internet connection that involved a lot of digging and cable fixing and a hell lot of patients from us. But alas … I’m back online.

I also want to thank everyone who took out a paid subscription in the time that I was away, your support means a lot to me. If you want to keep follow the renovation of my new home, please update your subscription.
