It's hard to look up the Alt code when you don't know what that thingamajig over or under the letter is called.
Here’s one chart that gives the names and codes.
Googling “triangle over the letter i” got me codes for triangles. What I needed was a circumflex. Accent marks going left to right are called grave, and right to left are called acute. I’d heard of the tilde (squiggly line) and the umlaut (two dots).
