Sometimes we just need a break.
Humans are not robots—you are simply not supposed to be constantly productive at the same rate all the time. Right now, the distinction between human creators and robot generators has never been so important. Resting and reflecting is a vital part of human creation.
Coming back to creativity after a break—self-directed or otherwise—does not mean jumping back in where you left off. It can require gentle handling, and a reassessment of what it is you truly want.
Especially if you are recovering from burnout, illness, mental health challenges or life struggles. Creativity can be a great support in your healing journey, but trying to force yourself to do too much too soon is likely to do more harm than good.
In this piece, I want to give you some ways to return to your creativity whilst also nurturing your wellbeing.
I’m keeping this concise and simple, because if you’re in a state of recovery, you don’t need to be trawling through thousands of words to find what you need!
