Today’s publication day!
FINALLY! Yumna and the Golden Horse, the first in my new SILVERBROOK series, is on bookshelves. Alhamdulilah!
Aimed younger readers1, Silverbook is about a group of Muslim teens in a small English village which is not as sleepy as it looks.
Of course, you know me - it’s not all ‘just’ magic and mystery. The book is packed full of BIG THEMES; Islamic mythology, finding the power within, standing up for what is right. Belonging, friendship, community… all the good stuff.
The book is in bookshops now, across the UK and Commonwealth2. US release date to come soon inshallah!
I’m currently on tour Alhamdulilah, visiting schools across the UK (and virtually, overseas!). From Karachi to Kilburn, Chalk Farm to Chelmsford, I’m determined for all these young readers to meet Yumna and the crew and get inspired! The questions the kids ask are thoroughly entertaining. My favourite so far: who was your first crush?!
Right. I won’t keep you long. More information and teacher resources can be found on this minisite. If you want to hear more about the tour, I’ll be updating things over on instagram and occasionally tiktok. If you’d like me to come visit a school or a library near you, send me an email!
Please buy the book if you can, or borrow it from your local library, and then let me know what you think (or post a review online!) once you’re done! Hope you enjoy… and happy reading!
Best,
Yassmin
technically this means aimed at children around 11+, or 9+ if they are advanced readers, up to 13-14 years old. The main character is 13 though, and usually kids like to read books with characters their age or slightly older.
