Why I’m Okay Being a Work-In-Progress

Some days, anxiousness creeps in as I am scrolling Instagram —
Someone’s launched their startup.
Someone else just moved countries.
Someone published a website.

Meanwhile, I’m just... figuring out what to eat for dinner.

I used to panic at that feeling.
Like I was behind.
Like there’s some secret club of “people who have it all sorted” and I missed the entry exam.

But lately, I’ve been wondering if maybe… that’s just noise.
Maybe being "in-progress" isn’t a thing to fix. Maybe it’s a thing to honour.

Honestly, I’ve tried a lot.

Switched jobs, explored acting, took up lifting, started this publication,
attended dance classes, did an ad, and went on to explore the outside world.

And sure, not all of it “led somewhere.”
But all of it opened something for me — or introduced me to versions of myself I wouldn’t have met otherwise.

A friend once told me, “You’re doing a lot. You just don’t see it because it’s who you are.”

I have now started embracing this feeling. The feeling of not knowing — about waking up unsure of what the day will bring, or staring at a half-written page not knowing how to finish it. It’s that feeling when a project is half-built, a relationship is still forming, or you’re on a path with no clear destination yet. That blurry space where you can’t quite explain what you’re doing, but you’re still doing it.

It takes a quiet kind of courage to show up anyway — to keep rehearsing the same scene, to hit publish on a piece that doesn’t feel perfect, to start over again even when the last attempt didn’t land.

And maybe there’s something sacred about being unfinished — a life still in motion, still soft around the edges, still becoming.

I don’t have a neat ending here. Just a gentle reminder — to you, to me — that it’s okay to be mid-process. To be in the middle of a question, a draft, a redesign, a reinvention.

The world often expects us to be final products. But maybe the real joy is in staying a little bit undone — still exploring, still shaping, still open to surprise.

And while we’re at it — maybe we can be grateful, too.

Grateful for how far we’ve come.
For the versions of us who said yes to strange things.
For the detours, the doubts, the days we showed up anyway.

Grateful for today — even if we still want more from tomorrow.

Holding both — gratitude and growth — that’s where the real magic lives.

A soft prompt for you:

What’s something you’re figuring out right now — and can you be kind to yourself while you do it?

If this resonated, I’m writing more about building a full life beyond work — through play, creativity, relationships, and all the experiments in life.
