After complaining yesterday about the state of my publications, Constant Commoner and this one, Writer Everlasting, both of which seem to be stagnating instead of growing 😢, the great Amanda Bray, my friend and the owner of The Publishing Spectrum, took pity on me and invited me to come on to her Zoom where we could talk, among other things, about the art of promotion—something I mention a lot, always in the negative. And ways to improve (instead of just whining).
Filmmaker Vicki Lesley, owner of the Substack publication Documental, joined us and I quickly became the foil, clearly out of my element as we talked about collaboration, promotion, Claude and ChatGPT, and potentially useful things that lurk in the depths of Substack but have never shown their faces to me EVER, though I find they’ve been inside my dashboard for a while now. Just waiting to be noticed and I suppose USED.
I tease. I actually did learn a few things. And I plan to learn more, thanks again to Amanda, who is determined to get me to the best I can be. Or close enough.
Here is the link to the broadcast, along with accompanying text explaining some of the process. I’m sure you all can figure it out better than I can. And you get to meet the three of us!
I call this Writer Everlasting because I’m here for the long haul, but in order to be seen and heard I need subscribers, both free and paid. You can help by sharing this, by poking that little heart button, or you can support my work by becoming a paid subscriber ($5/month or $50/year). If you don’t want to commit to that kind of relationship, you can tip any amount at any time at Ko-Fi or at PayPal. Thank you!
If you would prefer to remain on the free list, you’re always welcome and you’re included in everything. Please share any of my pieces with those who might want to join our community. It all helps.
I’ve begun private one-on-one sessions at HELP EVERLASTING to help writers find their true voices. Some light editing included. Check out the details here:
