For whatever reason, I feel like saying long time no see, but it’s just been a week.😂Maybe it’s the new month effect.
Hope August has been “meeting” you well. 😌
So a quick one before we get into today’s newsletter: we’re introducing a new segment that we’d love for you to be a part of, tagged ”How I Did It”
It’s where women in this community share a work challenge (or anything work-life related) and how they figured it out. Just our own little way of looking out for one another.
So keep an eye out for it, send in your own story if you have one, and let’s have our own August meeting here by solving real problems together.
Alright, on to the business of the day! 🫠

Hot Stuff
On this week’s Corporate “Stranger Things” series, I have seen strange things indeed, and this is definitely one of them. 😭
Because how do you have this much power over another human being and decide to use it like this?
From banning black socks because you don’t like them to physical punishment at work, things really went from “toxic workplace” to “what in the actual Stranger Things?”😳
But what really got me was the first line:
“I chose my toxic workplace over unemployment.”
Meaning, every Sunday, this person would cry knowing Monday was coming, but still show up because unemployment was not an option.
And that is the part we often miss when we say, “Why don’t you just leave?”
Sometimes, that salary is paying your rent, feeding your family, paying your siblings’ school fees and keeping multiple mouths afloat.
We haven’t even entered the Black Tax conversation.
So to everyone currently surviving a toxic workplace because leaving is not an option right now, virtual hugs. 🫂
I hope you get the opportunity to leave safely, and I hope you never have to choose between your dignity and your source of income.
On a lighter note tho, I have questions for everyone who has posted about a toxic workplace on X.
So if you still work there, do you actually resume by 9:00 a.m. the next day like nothing happened?
If yes, is your Boss on X? HR nkor? 😂
And if they buy you ice cream afterwards to “clear the bad impression,” do you collect it with your full chest?
I’m just asking oo
Please, tag these companies and bosses when you call them out. Your post might save someone from walking into the same situation.
And if you’re wondering whether what you’re experiencing at work is actually normal or toxic, check out this week’s corporate tips section.
Routing back to our conversation about enduring toxic workplaces, how much toxicity can you manage before losing it?
Here’s a helpful personal experience from someone in our community, sharing the work challenge she faced and how she handled it:
I was a newly married first-time mum with a one-year-old, and after having my baby, I had to shut down my side hustle so I could focus on my 9–5. At work, I led a small team that needed me to be present and active every day. Between work, daycare pickups, and trying to keep my home running, I convinced myself I had to do it all alone. I’d always prided myself on being strong and unshaken, so I thought getting help would make me look lazy. Thinking about it now, I was probably on my way to going crazy because it was just too intense.
How I Handled It
One day, I admitted I couldn’t keep living that way. I hired a maid to help at home, got an assistant to manage my schedule and handle the little tasks that kept piling up, and started delegating more at work. Looking back now, none of it even cost a fortune, certainly not as much as the expensive mess I was heading towards by trying to do everything myself.
