The Future We Are Stitching Together

Two days from now, we will begin a new chapter. It is a chapter shaped by years of learning, listening, and walking alongside young women who simply needed one opportunity to change the direction of their lives. Long before we imagined launching a fundraising campaign, we met young women and teen mothers with remarkable resilience. They had dreams, creativity, and determination, but many lacked access to the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to build sustainable livelihoods. It was through these experiences that our journey with Gira Inganzo began.

Over the past few years, we have equipped 35 teen mothers and young women with practical tailoring skills. Along the way, we have celebrated first stitches, first finished garments, and first moments of believing, “I can do this.” While tailoring was the skill being taught, confidence was often the first thing to grow. We have seen women discover new possibilities for themselves, support their families, and begin rebuilding their futures with dignity and hope.

As we reflected on these experiences, we realized something important. Thirty-five women is a meaningful beginning, but it is not enough.

Across Rwanda, many more young women and vulnerable mothers are still waiting for the opportunity to learn a skill, earn an income, and create a better future for themselves and their families. That is why we are preparing to establish the Gira Inganzo Women’s Fashion & Tailoring Center. In this place, women can continue developing professional tailoring skills, gain practical experience, and build sustainable livelihoods.

This vision is about much more than sewing. It is about creating opportunities where women can discover their potential, earn with dignity, and become agents of change in their own communities.

In just two days, we will officially launch our Gira Inganzo Women’s Fashion & Tailoring Center Fundraising Campaign. This campaign is not simply about raising funds; it is about inviting people who believe that every woman deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
