Oh no,
I’m so sorry;
There was spinach in your teeth in the company photo
You didn’t get an invite…and everyone else did
No one bought a ticket to your show
The “special” person you told friends about didn’t work out
They hired someone else
They didn’t like your poem
No one saved you a seat
You can’t seem to let go
of the time
you fell down
in front of Everyone.
It’s a rope on your ankle
Holding you back
from trying
Again
Because…
They’ll see you trying
Again.
And
What if it happens
again?
What if things go wrong?
They’ll see
And judge
And know
you’re not perfect
Oh no
Oh no
Oh no
But wait
Maybe they’re not looking.
Maybe they don’t even think
about
That time you sucked,
At that thing you did.
But wait,
Maybe they are looking
And they do
think about it.
Maybe their entire life is
Focused
on watching
What other people do.
Oh no
Oh no
Oh no
How sad for them
To have no sense
of self
Without judgement
Of others
And their efforts
Friend,
Let that shit go
And do the things
that make you happy.
Do them badly,
do them half-assed,
if that’s how they are available
To you.
Take some pressure off
Of yourself
and
I believe the world needs more women who know and trust themselves.
This is how cultures begin to change.
Perhaps this is where you become an active part of creating the ecosystem.
With Warmth,
Kyra🪶
