A strange undoing
This is for those feeling left in the dark,
wondering
if they are becoming something
or simply falling apart.
You are not truly alone in this strange place of undoing.
I too have been to this space.
And will offer you this tiny corner of the guide.
It does not tell you that everything happens for a reason.
It will not tell you to be grateful for what has broken your heart.
It will not rush you toward the beautiful part.
It only says this:
You may not be who you were.
That does not mean you are lost.
Yes, I know you may not recognize yourself.
But that does not mean there is nothing left to find.
You’re most likely in the almost.
The not-yet.
The hidden place that elders whisper about,
between one life and another.
And perhaps, for now, you do not need to know what you are becoming.
Perhaps you only need to stop demanding that you be finished.
There is a grace in the almost butterfly.
The wings are not ready.
It can feel its old form is gone, as it waits in darkness.
And still,
SOMETHING is happening.
Allison R.🌻 is a beautiful soul who is here for the difficult, and often thankless “Work” that we all benefit from. Such temerity!
Linnea Butler ✨ is artful at bringing spirituality right up front and letting it sit beside science. No shame this one!
As many of you may be aware, I just released my book Edge Of The Woods: A Memoir Of Fire And Second Becoming on the 22nd. I’m planning to ease up a bit on “doing” and look forward to spending the rest of my summer immersing myself in the Women At The Edge of The Woods community programs and reading to the crows who like to come sit with me while I’m outside.
I look forward to sharing Temerity Notes in a more comprehensive monthly post starting in September.
With Warmth,
