My name is Ulrich Wollborn, a photographer from Düsseldorf, Germany. This feels like the right moment to open a new space, a place for my photographic work and the thoughts that come with creating it.
If you know my website, Wollborn.Art, you’ll find finished images there carefully selected and standing on their own. This Substack is meant to be different: more open, more fluid. A place where I can share work in progress, new images, fragments, and reflections that emerge along the way.
Photography was once a side pursuit amid a busy professional and family life. Today, it holds a permanent place as a true expression of how I see the world. While I explore various photographic genres, my greatest passion lies in artistic photography. Many of my images arise in urban settings, during travels, or in spontaneous moments that deeply resonate with me. I am committed to capturing people and places with respect and mindfulness, especially when individuals become part of my compositions.
From time to time, I’ll use this space to think out loud about photography about recurring questions, doubts, and discoveries that shape my work. Not as answers set in stone, but as an ongoing conversation.
If this resonates with you if you’re interested in photography as an artistic practice you’re very welcome here. Feel free to look around, stay for a while, and join the conversation if you like.
See you soon,
Ulrich
That’s me, a photographer in my natural habitat.
