Your Brand Identity Is Not Just How You Look

Talie Knutson · The With Heart Approach™

When I lost both of my parents, close together, I did not just lose them. I lost my sense of who I was. I had spent years knowing myself through the roles I played and the people I belonged to, and when some of that fell away, I felt unrecognizable to myself.

Finding my way back did not happen by becoming someone new. It happened slowly, quietly, by remembering who I already was underneath all of it. And the strangest, most beautiful part is that once that clarity returned, my whole life got simpler. I knew what mattered. I knew who I wanted close. I knew what to say yes to and what to let go of.

A health and wellness brand may have a beautiful logo and a polished website, and still feel lost. They cannot quite say what makes them different. Their words change depending on who is asking. They feel like they are guessing. And almost every time, the problem is not their design and visuals. It is that they have never gotten clear on who they actually are.

Brand identity is often believed to be a logo and a color palette. It is not. Your brand identity is who you are at your core. The logo is just how that truth looks once you have found it.

You do not invent who you are. You uncover it. That was true for me, and it is true for every brand I have ever worked with.

I wrote a full piece on my blog about what brand identity really means, and why a beautiful logo can still leave a brand feeling unclear. If this idea resonates, I think you will find it worth your time.

If this work feels meaningful to you, I’d love for you to share this article or The With Heart Approach™ with another founder, leader, practitioner, or business owner who might benefit from this kind of clarity. The more heart-centered businesses we build, the better.
