Marketing Feels Harder When We Forget This Part

Talie Knutson · The With Heart Approach™

Marketing can feel so heavy and just hard sometimes, especially if you are not a marketer.

Not the strategy side of it. Not the platforms or the algorithms or the content calendars.

I mean the emotional weight of it.

The feeling of knowing your work matters, but not always knowing how to explain it in a way that feels clear.

The feeling of sitting down to write something and suddenly questioning everything.

The feeling of wondering whether you are saying too much, not enough, the wrong thing, or the same thing everyone else is saying.

I think so many founders know that feeling.

Especially the ones who are building something personal. Something rooted in care. Something that came from a real belief, a lived experience, a calling, a skill, or a deep desire to help people feel better in some way.

When your business holds that much heart, marketing can feel surprisingly vulnerable.

Because you are not just trying to sell something. You are trying to put language around work that matters to you. You are trying to help people understand why it matters to them.

And sometimes that is where everything gets tangled.

You tell yourself you need to be more consistent.

  • You need to show up more.

  • You need to figure out the content plan.

  • You need to be on TikTok, Instagram, X, and Threads.

  • You need more posts.

  • You need to stop overthinking.

But maybe what you really need is clarity.

People are not making casual decisions when they are choosing support for their body, mind, emotions, family, energy, stress, healing, or well-being.

They are looking for something that feels credible and honest. Something that helps them feel understood. Something they can trust.

That kind of trust does not come from simply doing more.

It comes from being clear.

It comes from communicating in a way that feels grounded, consistent, and human.

It comes from knowing the heart of your business well enough that the words begin to feel less forced.

Marketing should feel like a clearer expression of what is already true.

It means getting clear on the heart of the business first, so the way you communicate feels more aligned, more trustworthy, and more connected to the people you are here to serve.

So if marketing has been feeling confusing lately, I hope you give yourself a little permission to pause before you push yourself to create more.

You may simply need more clarity around what you are trying to say.

I wrote more about this in my latest website article, especially for founders who are feeling overwhelmed by content, platforms, and all the decisions that come with marketing. You can read the full article here:
