Hi friends!
I have a random stream of consciousness for you today. With the arrival of Goop kitchen following the grand opening of Meadow Lane last fall, I can’t help but wonder: is the slop bowl phenomenon finally on it’s way out?
Having worked in corporate from 2018-2020, I experienced what may have been peak slop bowl culture. Sweetgreen, Chopped, and Dig Inn were the main contenders. At the time I worked as an assistant at Vogue and what you had for lunch was almost as telling as your choice in footwear. So of course I conformed and got my silly Sweetgreen salads that I couldn’t afford, because apparently that’s what working girls eat! I almost felt like Tyra Banks in Life Size, or Jennifer Gardner in 13 going on 30, playing grown up at my big girl desk writing big girl emails while I ate my big girl salad!
