Finding Your Sweet Spot in Life

There are plenty of things we spend our lives chasing. .

More money. A bigger house. A better job. More recognition. More possessions. More success. But I’ve been thinking lately about something that may be far more important than any of those things: finding your sweet spot in life. That place where life just seems to fit. Where you wake up in the morning and don’t immediately wish you were somewhere else. Where the people around you matter. Where your work has meaning. Where you have enough—not necessarily everything, but enough—to feel grateful.

Your sweet spot may not look like mine. For some people, it might be a little house overlooking the ocean. For someone else, it might be a quiet neighborhood surrounded by family. It might be running a business, teaching children, traveling the world, growing vegetables, making art, or simply having coffee with a good friend on a Tuesday morning. And here’s the important part: You don’t have to wait until everything is perfect to find it.

In fact, I think we sometimes miss our sweet spot because we’re so busy trying to get somewhere else. We’re always planning the next move. The next house. The next vacation. The next promotion. The next chapter. Meanwhile, life is happening right in front of us.

I’ve learned that the sweet spot isn’t necessarily a destination. It’s a feeling. It’s that moment when you look around and think, You know what? I’m pretty darn happy right here.

Costa Rica taught me a lot about that. Pura Vida isn’t about having a perfect life. It’s about learning to recognize the good life when you encounter it. It’s about slowing down long enough to appreciate the coffee, the conversation, the sunset, the friendships, the laughter, and all those little moments that somehow become the big moments of our lives.

So maybe the question isn’t, “What more do I need?” Maybe it’s, “What would make the life I already have feel more like MY life?”

Find that. Protect it. Nurture it. And then live there as often as you possibly can. Because I can’t think of anything much more important than finding your sweet spot in life. And once you find it, don’t be in such a hurry to leave.
