The WICEN Community Sentinel provides a forum for community members to engage in conversation and dialogue by contributing articles, essays, and blogs on topics of interest to the community.
This goes beyond community journalism. Community journalism is about the stories that shape daily life: town meetings, school updates, new businesses, neighborhood events, and local issues that don’t make national news but matter deeply to residents. The WICEN Community Sentinel offers a unique opportunity for individuals to document historical events that have shaped their personal lives and that of the community in which they live. Individuals get to “write their own lives,” and document their contributions for posterity. This form of journalism documents history on the local level, with global implications.
The WICEN Community Sentinel invites contributors to this forum, with the potential for their stories to be collected and published as biographies or memoirs. Assistance with crafting stories, editing, and publishing is available.
